Future Classic Sub's?

Looking to buy a Sub 14060M, i want it for myself but hopefully to pass down to my child when they hit 21.
Would i be better going for the COSC or no COSC, i have to admit i like the cleaner less cluttered dial on the Non-COSC, personally i feel this model looks great, what is your ideas on this?

Welcome.

In some sence I think you've answered your own question with a preference for the 2 line.

That you picked the 14060M assures your choice of the classic Submariner. The last of a special breed, many feel it's the last of the storied "tool watch" tradition.

Will collectors view the 4 line as more of a collectors piecs in the future? Only time will tell.

What does seem to be certain if and when Rolex "upgrades" the reference the last of the golden era will be gone.

Good luck.

I would say it will not make a lot of difference in the immediate future but who knows in 20-30 years time.IMHO the 14060 with the Tritium dial pre 1998 could become the more collectible long term but like Mike said its the last of the classic line.

Either way you can't go wrong. Go with your heart and pick the one you like the best.

I agree with padi56. Was in your shoes a few years ago and picked up 14060, U series, (97), two liner, with tritium dial and never looked back.

Inspite of it keeping good time, 2+sec/daily, I had it serviced. Contemplated going with a luminova service dail and hands, (keeping the old ones of course) but was convinced by the good TRF members to keep it original.

If modern lume is important to you go with a 14060M.

I think a late 80's 5513 may prove to be a more rewarding classic. I mean in no way to discredit the 14060.

I'd try and get a 14060 pre M post Tritum which is what I did. It's a Two liner Luminova dial,3130 movement.
