UK Import Charges, how much!!!

Saw a nice Sub 5513 on the bay, but if I bought it I will have to pay another £451 in import charges?
Anyone know a way round this?

There are, apparently, a few sellers on this forum who are "understanding" about how to get a watch from the USA to the UK - no names - no details.

You're not going to get that on ebay. Buy from a trusted seller on this forum - or you're on your own.

Sorry to be harsh but it's the way of things.

Get a cheap flight to the states and have it fed-exed to your hotel. New watch and a weekend in NY!

Worst ways, factor in circa 23% on purchase price & you'll be fine

I might need to import a watch too (Ireland not the UK).

I'm curious about this. I would see it as fair that I pay the sales tax in the US if they're charging me that to buy there. But given that I'm not living in the US, is there a "reclaim" available for that US sales tax? I know that US shoppers can reclaim VAT paid in Europe on exit. This would mean that paying duty on bringing a new watch into Europe would be fair. Otherwise, we're paying tax twice, non?

I believe the sales tax in US is final, there is no refund for tourists. However, there are 2 US States - Oregon and Maryland that dont charge sales tax, anyone from the US can help to verify this?

in the US they add the sales tax on to the price so if they are shipping to Ireland then the sales tax will not be included in the price you pay. So no you will not be paying that tax twice
