Are any fakes actually Swiss?
I was under the impression they were all made in China. I was recently having an argument with someone who wears fakes who told me I apparently paid for the name. Whereas he get swiss quality for thousands less with the same design and function. I told him the movement will certainly be designed differently and that all watches function the same in that they tell the time.
Admittedly this has bothered me more than it should.

I am often in China and fake watches are often there offered in different "quality grades".
The highest grades are often sold "with Swiss movement". Now I would not rely on someone who illegally sells counterfeit watches on a booth in Guangzhou, but maybe they refer to the fact, that in China (like Russia) they use a bad copy of old ETA or other swiss base movements for their fakes. They may call it Swiss, but it's certainly not. |
