Vintage Sea-Dweller 1665
I've brought my vintage Sea-Dweller 1665 to Rolex Service Center in New York.
After inspection of the watch they refuse to service it if I don't agree on changing hands to a new style luminova. At the same time they told me that it will decrease the value of the watch if this hands are replaced, that new hands do not match the dial. They don't have old style hands in stock. What should be done. Should I agree on changing hands or not. |

I suspect you are about to hear "send it to Bob Ridley" A LOT!

You need someone that appreciates, specializes and understands vintage watches.
Try bringing your 2002 BMW, not the year, to the BMW dealership, they'll think it's a VW |

Do NOT let Rolex do anything to your watch.....There are many very qualified watch makers in the US that can service your watch while still protecting it's vintage value....

So yes, don't change things on the watch just because Rolex said what they said. I'm surprised they even acknowledged the 'vintage' aspect of it.

you really should wait and read the posts on here before you do anything.
you may have really saved the watch by not allowing rolex to touch it. you are lucky and smart to have hesitated ! why did you bring it in to the shop? i recommend you do nothing to it and enjoy it as-is. Regards, Harry |

Vintage Rolex Sea Dweller 1665
Here is the pictures of my watch. I did not let Rolex Service Center to service
the watch, they would want to alter it's original hands, crown and dial. I've got the watch back this afternoon. |

"At the same time they told me that it will decrease the value of the watch if this hands are replaced, that new hands do not match the dial."
I do give them credit for telling you that. Some RSCs would just say "we MUST change the hands and dial, etc." At least they gave you enough information that you made the wise decision to come here first! A beautiful SD, BTW!
