Rolex for the not so rolex fan?
I have a deep sea I got as a present. I almost never wear it because it feels so big. I am wondering if people have feedback for me on some rolex watches that are good for people who are not huge fans of rolex. I respect the build quality and status aspects.

Almost every Rolex wears smaller than an SD, but my recommendation would definitely be an Air-King. If you want something sportier there is the mid-size Yacht-Master.

Sell it & look for a nice pre owned submariner or a nice 36mm datejust.

each and every Rolex shouts out their identity of being a Rolex, but each in it's own way. So, if you looking for the not so Rolex, you better sell the SDDS and buy a not Rolex watch! |

If you are not a big fan of Rolex I would suggest you check out other brands. Some great ones out there, Omega and JLC for example. But if you want a watch to impress your neighbours I would suggest you stick with Rolex, maybe a Sub-c would be a good choice.

It would help if you let us know what you don't like about rolexes. I love the DSSD, but many are turned off by its size. However outside the ym2, all their watches are smaller than the DSSD.
For a "non" Rolex feel, check out the milguass. |

Everybodies style is a bit different. Hard to tell exactlty what you would like, but I would recomend going to an AD and checking some out in person. I think it's still possible you might find a Rolex that you like, the Sea Dweller is a bit bigger than most. If not there are other brands.

There's more to Rolex than Submariner. A lot more.

I would suggest a GMT IIc. Not only the finest watch that Rolex makes today, but also, in my humble opinion, the best all-round luxury watch money can buy. Wears much smaller than the Deepsea, and is extremely well balanced on the wrist

I hate when people cite the "status" aspects of rolex watches.

Funny you sent this Mickey, it was exactly what I was going to send! But, first off Rodger, welcome to TRF!! I agree with you, the SDDS wears just too large on my own wrist and I wear some large Panerais; but there is something about the SDDS. Try something a bit smaller, the original Exp II white dial.

I can understand that watching being felt too big. The other sport models fit very well on wrists and are more comfortable if too big is uncomfortable.
I'd recommend checking those out as well as a DJ which is 36mm and a tad smaller but dressy and sits well on the arm. I hear the daytona wears very well and comfortable and doesn't feel large. It's the first on my shortlist. |

Sell your Deep and go for the Hulk! But try the DSSD see if you may eventually like it. The more I wear my DSSD the more I am attached to this DSSD.

Exp 2, previous model 16570, Black dial, perfect size, no divers bezel, possibly the most non rolex, rolex, of the sports models, if theirs such a thing.
