Jeweled GMT-Master II bezel

Good day
I'd like to hear what you guys think of this sapphire, ruby and diamond bezel.
And if anyone has this watch please post pics.

Thanks.

Hmmm... I believe that bezel in your 16710 pic is an aftermarket... Did you mean to show a pic of the 116759? (borrowed pic attached) I love the piece, however, definitely would not be an everyday watch. I have seen pictures of dignitaries or royal figures wearing it! Nice piece, I for one don't think I could pull it off. Are you thinking of getting it?

I'm so sad for that watch...It's like seeing a golden retriever with a french poodle cut!

I believe that the bezel is an aftermarket. Do you know what the difference is between the factory and aftermarket?
I suspect that the gems in the factory are better quality.

I'd love to own that watch, or at least the bezel. I don't like the diamonds on the lugs.
Out of curiosity which royal figures wore it?

Sorry!
A GMT is such a classic "tool" watch in my opinion. It was just came to mind...imagine seeing a Golden Retriever with a Poodle hair cut!

Sorry didn't mean to offend. I just don't like jewels on sports models and that is what came to mind.

Your free to wear what you want. Hopefully we're free to tell our honest opinion!

The purpose of the GMT is to keep track in two time zones, and putting jewels on the bezel which has hour markers on it sort of takes away from the purpose of the watch.

If it serves a function, why cover it with stones?

Ouch.

Factory or not, IMO I really don't think gemstones of any kind belong on a man's watch.

I don't think that it's aftermarket. I saw that exact watch at an AD here in Edmonton.

Someone just stick an after market bezel in this watch you posted.

FremStar is Right in his post. What on earth will we do without him to guide us. I'd be totally lost in darkness.

The 116759 started in 2007.
All 116759 (WG) and 116785 (YG) comes with Diamonds in the lugs.

There are quite a few aftermarket bezel makers (look on flea-bay), though Rolex makes a special reference number one.

My apologies for not understanding "though Rolex makes a special reference number one".
Can you please elaborate this reference number one.

I think Tony has a bezel like that. At least I think he had a pic of one, thought he was going to try to put it on. Maybe he was just kiddin or maybe he wasn't, I don't know nutin. Maybe he'll chirp in on this one. That's a pimpin/rapper watch for sure.

Bring up diamonds and stones on here, everyone goes off..lol

The subject Rolex, GMT-MASTER II 18K, model 116758 SARU is in my Rolex 2010-2011 Catalogue as "Bezel set with baguette sapphires, rubies and diamonds". I don't know the price, but I suspect 45 - 50 big ones. It is to blingy for my tastes, but it would probably appeal to the ladies. As a matter of fact, I am a little nervous that the wife might happen upon it, as our 40th wedding aniversary is next August and she has hinted that rubies are in the cards!!!

Just curious Wehtico, what was the price at the Edmonton AD - GemOro or Swedish Jewellers??

I was perhaps a bit vague, Rolex has made GMTs with diamond bezels lugs links etc. But they are a unique reference/model numbers.

Kinda weird IMHO but each to their own. Seems strange to bling out a GMT like that taking away from the ability to read the bezel. Why not bling out a dj or dd or go for gold sub or gmt lots of other cool options out there I feel that the right person can certainly carry off.
Can buy two very nice watches for that price as well!

This is the exact watch I'm looking for. Stainless GMT ii with the "Patriot" bezel. Lots of dealers online with this watch but I'm too hesitant to trust them :( what to do...

You should run and run very fast! Rolex has never produced a SS GMT with this bezel. What you were looking at is a frankenwatch...

i am actually a big fan of the diamond/sapphire/ruby bezel, but there is a fine line crossing over to gross. i think just the bezel is awesome. anything more is too much.

Yes I'm aware they never produced that on the SS. I disagree that by adding a bezel would classify it as a "frankenwatch"

Ok. In that case good luck when you get it, let us know what happens when you take your piece in for servicing at RUSA
