Serial Number on Rehaut AND on case at 6 O'clock?

My M serial 16610LV has the serial number engraved on the case at 6 oclock and on the Rehaut.

Did they do that on all Rolex? If so for how long?
If they only do on Rehaut now when did they stop engraving on case?
Are the new ones only on the Rehaut?

Thanks!

Not so good pics but good enough

That's a cool feature. Nice not to have to take the bracelet off to know what the serial number is.

Good one - is it the same for all M serial pieces?

(btw - I'm on an iPad now, so not sure if the serial number is much more visible if were on a proper PC... I wouldn't be "advertising" the serial numbers of my watches online - there are people getting those numbers to make replica pieces....)

I HATE that you sucked me into this but I've obscured the serial number. Thanks for looking out.

I've always thought it would be cool to have a fake or thousands of them modeled after MY WATCH!!!! My watch wouldn't be fake? Rolex wouldn't hold it against me at least I dont think!? I didnt sign anything with Rolex saying I'd protect my serial number ! LOL!

Thanks for looking out. Did I swirl enough? LOL

Looks like your watch melted.

All the watches I have seen with the SN inside the dial also have it between the lugs, GMT IIc, Subs: 16610 and 116610, YM 16622, WG Daytona 16509 did also.

As do mine.

The change is quite recent. I believe it was first noted on the DSSD.

Best,

A

Serial Number on case at 6 O'clock disappeared with the introduction of random serial numbers (with the exception of SDDS).

Thanks Geo, Acce & TT!

I like having the serial on the case and rehaut....the rehaut can be swapped out by a watchmaker, right? That'd worry me.

You sold an LV that only had it on the Rehaut? That's good to know...

Rehaut is part of the case, except for the SDDS where it's part of the compression ring.

So what you say isn't an issue as it was the same for the s/n between lugs. Swapping s/n implies to swap case (not sure I'm clear, my poor english ...).

Example with a TOG :

OH...The rehaut is actually part of the case? Doesn't look like that but makes sense.

they have been fazing out the case serial number between the lugs.... it is redundant as the rehaut is actually part of the case.... the benefit is the serial can be seen without disassembly and it doesn't wear away....

so ... newer models will only have serial on rehaut .... those with the serial in both places will be a transitional feature and are somewhat rare.

my V serial LV had it on both....
