Why is it Rolex refers to the Submariner without a date complication as " Submariner " and the Submariner with a date complication as the "Submariner Date" but most Rolex owners with the date complication Submariners refer to their watches as " Submariner/Sub" and use the somewhat disparaging term "Submariner NO Date/Sub NO date" for the actual "Submariner"? The Original had no date complication, so what gives, if the terminology is good enough for Rolex why is not good enough for the majority of Submariner Date owners themselves

The original is the Submariner... The one with added date is the Submariner Date...

I know I'm a pretty complacent guy

but it irks me .Submariner Date owners use that Sub No-date as a negative term like the "Submariner" is missing something ,when in fact its just the opposite, the Date complication really is just a gimicky add on. If its good enough for Rolex then it should be good enough for the Daters themselves.Sub Date ..Sub No Date it is even easier to use the proper terminology.This Anarchy must be stopped or what's next Explorer No Date .

I own one and refer to it as a "no-date", I'm going to just start saying "sub"

and for what it's worth, I never miss having a date on that watch, I'm just so happy wearing it, that's enough

My Submariner is quickly becoming my favorite and admittedly I have referred to it as Sub No date

in the past ..NO more..from now on it's Submariner or Sub.I had a 16610 Submariner Date but much prefer the simplicity of the Original Submariner .

PS: you need an amendment.

I have a 14060M, and have never found the term Sub No Date to be negative. I prefer the watch to the version with the date, so I always thought they were pointing out its superiority!

Seriously I think it really does have to do with the fact there are a lot more date models sold, and they are all a version of submariner. So I will refer to my watch as a sub or submariner for simplicity sake, not to try to force anyone else to call theirs a sub no date.
