Are we being seduced by Rolex advertisements?

Leading the way at over $40 million spend in 2010... More than twice the next big spender (Breitling)... Do our decision to own/desire a Rolex influenced by it's media exposure? Check out the list on watch times.

I buy Rolex because of the design/looks and heritage.

I have been seduced by Rolex all my life. The Brand has true iconic designs, quality and stands the test of time, pun intended.

Breitling is a surprise at #2; at least to me. I don't recall ever seeing their ads.
Omega surprises me in that they are all the way down at #7. Seems like I see more of them than the spend would indicate. Of course I may be confusing product placement with advertising.
On the other hand, Tag is no surprise at all.

Yes. Since I first saw their ads in NG in the 1970s.

I like the old tool watch ads from Rolex and Telly Savalas hand on the DD ad, clever and interesting ads. The "live for greatness" and some tennis/golf/whatever player does nothing for me.

It would be interesting how much advertising goes into each dollar of sales. For instance, Rolex spends roughly 10 times more than PP on advertising, but PP probably spends more per dollar in sales. If you know what I mean.

I'm not being seduced - I'm going willingly headlong into the lust and romance of Rolex ownership.

I remember a few years ago that Rolex were reported as the best selling brand in the USA by value; now did they get there by spending a lot on advertising or do they spend a lot on advertising because they are #1 !

I collect vintage. So, perhaps the historic attributes but not the ad in Robb Report lol.

I rarely if ever see a Rolex commercial.

I certainly don't see them now that I've unplugged my TV.

I will admit to having been seduced by Rolex watches and the incredible history of the Rolex brand and the genius of Hans Wilsdorf.
