Sub Question

Can you wear a sub mariner anywhere everyday? I got the Hulk and wore it out to a party and a friend told me not to wear it everywhere(only to dinner)
I plan to wear this thing everyday everywhere...to the gym too.
Thoughts?

Submariners are meant to be worn. They can, IMHO, carry everything off from a swim suit to a 3 piece suit. Wear and enjoy.

Screw what your friend thinks. I wear mine everywhere. If someone does not like it, they can pound dirt as I bought it to appease me and not anyone else. However, I've gotten the most compliments on the LVC. YMMV.

Just don't leave it in your locker at the gym.

Perhaps you need to reconsider your friends

Think you need to figure out why your "friend" would say something like that to you in the first place.

The Submariner was designed as a hard use tool watch. Rolex has updated it over the years to give it a bit more flash, but it is still able to take all the punishment it was originally designed to withstand. And then some. Use it, don't abuse it and enjoy it by wearing it wherever you like. Case in point..... I took mine to Afghanistan

Been wearing mine everywhere (including work) for eleven years and it's still as accurate and sweet as the day I got it. It's YOUR watch and will be whatever you want it to be, enjoy.

Yes of course you can wear it everywhere. Why does your friend think this watch can only be worn to dinner? Strange if you ask me. The Sub is one of the most versatile watches in the Rolex family.

Well our friend 'Ric' here wears permed platinum blonde hair and a one pound gold chain but is apparently not confident enough to pull off wearing his sub everyday...

If you look at the so called rules of Etiquette they state if dressing for anything formal a watch should be on a leather strap and if on metal band a non sports model.Sports models /metal straps are only to be worn for business or casual wear and cloth only for casual.I presume that is why Rolex offers the Daytona on a leather strap and other non sport models on metal . So your friend is correct depending on the event you are attending ,dinner at a restaurant yes a sports model OK, dinner at a black tie event or wedding sports model not OK according to those who follow convention. So yet another reason to have those ETUR ends and slap a leather on your Sub or GMT or other sports model when you are going formal.

16610 for every day (and usually at night!) and 116610 for going out. If I remember to switch... I like to wear all of my automatics fairly regularly though, I feel like it's like driving a car to keep the brakes from rusting. :-)

I don't subscribe to snobbery. I don't care if I was meeting the Queen of England. I'm wearing my Sub!!

I guess it depends where you meet her .If you meet her on the street you are within the rules of etiquette, if at a black tie event it would be considered gauche.I don't think etiquette and snobbery are the same thing ,poor etiquette is wearing a track suite or a baseball cap to a fine dining restaurant, some people do .Looking down on someone wearing the same gear to a Mcdonalds that would be snobbery . However as they say money can buy good tasting food but money can't necessarily buy good taste.
