Yacht Master?
Newer to the forum, but don't see much "chatter" about the Yacht Master watches. Any interest/comments out there?

The YM is not as popular as some of the other sports Rollies, especially the Subs and the Daytona. However, if it's any consolation, the full-sized 40 mm YM runs the same 3135 movement as the Sub-date and SD. Hope you enjoy your stay on our forum. JJ

Welcome to TRF! There's plenty of YM fans around here, but you're right, there's not a HUGE population of YM owners here. My personal favorite is the SS/Plat.

Gregg,
I have a SS/P YM and I love it. It has a much different look than the Sub,GMT,SD and, IMHO, a slightly dressier, upscale look. |

Should have said my collection is a Blue TT Sub, SS Daytona - Black Dial and a PAM113. Looking at what comes next, perhaps YM or more PAM's.

From and what I understand, the yachty is popular with accountants and financial professionals.
Personally, I prefer the sport models, but have a WIS accountant friend who absolutely loves the Yachtmaster. It's a classy watch for sure. |

I really love the Yacht Master as well.
I actually do not get to see many of them in the "wild." My favorite was always the full size model in two tone with the blue dial. What I like about the Yachty too is how the bezel is completely made out of gold (or platinum) depending on the model unlike the Submariner and GMT Master. Now for the Yacht Master II, thats a totally different story but I can say its starting to grow on me.

I've only seen pics of the YM-II. It has a very "unique" look. It does grow on you, but is a bit busy for me. SS/Plat is the look that grabs me.

im not sure why YM is not as popular as other rolex. i hardly see it around and not many members here own one too. my wild guess is maybe due to less function yet price wise is considerably more.....
in terms of look, in my humble opinion it is one of the best good looking amongst the sport line yep ... i love it alot mine is ssteel/ platinum ....and g-gregg do get one and join the YM enthusiast ....we need more of us hehe |

Yachtmaaster is underestimated as a watch. I believe that this happens because this watch doesn't have any speciall functions. The yachtmaster II has a special function but it absolutely a piece of junk. It is so ugly

I too own a Plat/SS YM and agree that you don't see many out in the "wild" another reason for buying one!
I love the looks and how she sparkles out in the Florida sun. She is a "beauty" no doubt. However, my Wht.Exp.II gets the most wrist time.

Welcome Gregg.
I live in an upscale golf/resort community in Florida where I see Rolex being worn every day by all types of people but have yet to see another YM walking around. To me there is something understated about the YM because you just don't see them often. A couple people have commented that I have a beautiful watch then say "Wow, that's a Rolex!" When I got my TT YM gold face about 2 months ago, my AD allowed me to try most of the sports models and I stayed away from the YM because I could not wrap my brain around paying that much for a watch. I was however drawn to the TT YM. They had steel, white, and gold face YM's so I tried each one on, and the AD even let me walk out of the store to see how it looked in "the wild." Like Ragu said the Florida sun makes for some serious sparkle and I was stunned by the solid gold bezel, the perfect balance and large markers. I made my purchase with an 8% discount and have been very happy. |

Hey Jocke,
I like this pic of yours alot! Your YM looks really nice with the Fiesta Red Strat (if that's what it is). Any info on your guitars as I have quite a collection myself.

I have the Yachtmaster 40 mm TT with champagne dial. Beautiful watch. What I like the best about it is the maxi-dial which is readable both day and night. The new Yachtmaster II is the size 43 mm that I would like to see, but I don't care for the watch. Plus, now that Rolex is putting out a GMT II with a supercase, new movement, maxi-dial, and ceramic bezel, I think more people are looking at future development of Rolex watches moving in that direction. I would love a 43 mm Sea Dweller with a supercase, maxi-dial, and so on. Until then, my TT Yachtmaster is as good as it gets. |

Oh my G-d Frostie, I tried on both of these watches today!! The SS/Plat YM and the white dial Daytona! Whoa, both are hot hot hot! I've always liked the YM, and as for the Daytona - well it bowled me over

YM is equiped with triplock windgn crown which is the same as a sub that has a depth rating of 300 meters. however rolex stated YM has a 100 meters waterproof only. i guess they won't put 300 because it will be the same as a sub. for the average joe 100 meters is plenty.... i dont think i plan on going diving with my YM anytiem soon FINALLY.... a thread about YACHTMASTER |

Welcome to TRF, Gregg
Gregg, is that your Daytona that you have on your avatar? Anyway: NICE avatar! @ Frostie: I thought you did not have any SS Daytona? Is that your SS Daytona that you show on the pics you attached in your post earlier in this thread?
