Do you shower with or with out !!!

I have an Explorer 2 which I have had now for 15months. Went to the AD last week to look at the new exp2, Nice watch but the person next to me asked could he wear it 24/7 and the sales person said yes but not in the shower as water from shower could get past the seals as it comes out at high pressure. This I have heard of before but I said that I wear mine 24/7 even in the shower that is when I clean it. What do you guys think?

Well can assure there would be more water pressure at say normal recreational diving pressure while swimming at 40m than there would be from a shower. And for 20 plus years I have been in the shower hot and cold water with no harm whatsoever to any Rolex I was wearing at the time.Plus some of my watches have spent over 500 hours underwater salt and fresh warm and freezing cold again not a problem.Another case of a AD talking through where the sun don't shine IMHO.

I've worn my watches in the the shower most of the time & haven't had a problem with normal household shower pressure.

A couple of no no's, never unscrew the crown & never feel tempted to take it off your wrist to clean it, slippery fingers & a marble shower-base is a recipe for disaster

Wear mine in the shower too. Some people say the heat from the shower can expand the seals, but unless you're scalding yourself, I doubt it would be a real issue

I definitely wear the ones on bracelets in the shower. Wouldn't even think twice about it and you'd have to have an extremely serious power shower to create anything like the pressure just basic swimming would have on your watch.

Whilst I wouldn't do it myself, I have read that some members pour boiling water on their watches on a regular basis to clean them. Indeed, Rolex even did an advert way back when in the 70's with a Rolex Oyster being boiled in a container to prove a point.

Without, but purely out of habit rather than fear of failure.

I had my Sub cleaned once while I was at my AD and when I goit it back it was hot. They either boiled it or steamed it. No problems. I always shower with my rolex on.

Yes, every watch I own I take in to the shower to clean the crap off it from daily use. Any watch that can't survive taking it in to the shower is not worth owning. If you own any G-Shock. This conversation has been brought up many times. From what I read, the shower head does not have enough pressure to really do anything bad to your watch. I even read that soapy water every so often will clean your watch too, but will damage it if you do it everyday.

Are some jewelry stores Rolex authorized dealers too? Some jewelry stores have pressurized steam that cleans off any jewelry. That could be it.

Dealer has no idea what they're talking about. If you can swim up to 300ft under water, do YOU think a shower will even slightly raise a concern??

And this is why there has been a lot of AD's losing their licenses this last year - Dumb as* sales people. I mean really????

Sales Person: No you should shower with it...

Buyer: But it says its waterproof up to 1000 feet right on the dial here...

Sales Person: Don't believe everything you read, and trust me I'm selling them, I would know...

Buyer: oh....ok?

I think the only concern would be from hard water mineral build up or soap scum, both of which can be cleaned.

That sales person is full of it. Time to throw the CRAP FLAG! Most showers operate with 60 psig max (at least in the US) and at the discharge you are now at atmospheric pressure 14.7 psia. The depth on the Explorers is 100 meters if I remeber right, which is approx. 300 ft x 0.444 psi/ft (in salt water) which equals 133.2 psi which is > 14.7 psi. Therfore, the Explorer 2 will not leak unless it is defective or the seals have aged past their useful life expectancy.

In the shower?...a Rolex?....The HORROR

Go with the flow - may the spray be with you.

Shower with it like others said - just don't drop it in there!

I have never worn any watch into the shower but, before I joined this forum and learned better, I routinely tossed my DJ into the dishwasher with the dishes and it always came out sparkling.

That's what an ammonia soak is for, soap scum only affects the unseen portions of the clasp and links. I'd rather clean my bracelet once every two months then take my watch off for every shower. But that's just me...

I don't know about Rolexes, but I used to have another watch that had 100m or 200m water depth rating, and I remember steam got past it and ruined my watch.
From my bad experience, I would rather take it off in case.

I wear mine in the shower every time. It's a good way to get rid of the dust and gunk that builds up. You just have to make sure you remember to take your watch off and dry it with a towel.

I never shower with my watch on, but it has nothing to do with the water resistance. I just prefer not to.

I wash my watches with warm soapy water and a soft brush frequently, however.

I know eh? Some people around here like to live on the edge..

A lot of watches are waterproof and even cheaper models would do just fine under the water coming from a shower but personally I don't do it because I find it a bit uncomfortable.

Just be careful you don't slip in the shower, fall down & crack your Rolex's crystal......I know someone that did!

I shower once in a while with all of mine. Never an issue. The watches can take more than my body.
