Titanium
If Rolex releases a reference in Titanium, would you go for it? I think it will help those who are allergic to nickel

I don't like the feel of titanium watches. It is way too light for me. I like having a hunk of heavy steel in my wrist. Titanuim

That case may only happen to GMT and Daytona coz only pilots and racers are concerned about payload.

Ahh, a titanium watch on a NATO -- super light!
That's one reason why I love my titanium Tissot T-Touch with rubber strap. The thing is so light I don't even realize it's there. The only downfall -- titanium doesn't resist scratching as well as SS.

The dull colour of Titanium puts me off. I like a bit of shine on my watches.

I don't like the feel of steel watches. It is way too light for me. I like having a hunk of heavy titanium in my wrist. Steel

Depends on the design aesthetics of the watch. I'm not really against the weight or the finish of titanium, but it would have to look REALLY nice.

I just like the way the 904L looks and feels. Just guessing here, but I think a lot of folks would agree after seeing a finished product.

A YM II in Ti
Yes!! That rendition could possibly even exceed the popularity of the current YM II on this forum. May even have a MSRP less than a 3 series BMW |

I would never have thought such a thing possible from Ti. Don't get me wrong, it isn't as soft as gold, but definitely not that durable. Again, maybe the grades are different, but I dunno. My watch will show scratches easily. The clasp which is Ti as well is rubbed to **** and it's hard to tell that it was ever polished. No biggie since I consider it a true sports watch.

Love the greyish hue of titanium, but the weight makes it feel 'plasticky'.....

If Rolex released a titanium watch, it would be a shock to the system.
I would buy one as long as it was 6AL4V, that 3AL2.5V stuff just doesn't cut it. Rolex have in fact been experimenting with Titanium. Here is an older Rolex excert: |

I'd rather prefer titanium on my tennis rackets rather than on my watches.
I'm more than happy with the 904L that Rolex uses today. Why bother introducing titanium when they are already using the best stainless steel money can buy?

So Rolex makes watches in 904L SS...and the sports models start at about $5K...give or take. Can you imagine what the range would start at if actually used Ti??? I would guess that prices would start about 20-30% higher. Not sure if people really want to buy a Ti. Sub for $6500 or more just yet...
As for Ti scratching...I've never read that it's harder than steel...but I have read that it is stronger and yet lighter than the same volume of steel. All In all...I woldn't buy it. I prefer the weight of 904L SS. |

OR:
Rolex could go CERAMIC with their cases, too. Consider that Rolex already has introduced ceramics on the bezel, and IWC has the "Doppelchronograph" in ceramics, as well.
