Hello all: MS native

Hello All! I am a recent returning Vet from Afghanistan currently living in Mississippi. An Infantry Officer by trade I am looking at moving to a larger city upon coming off Active Duty for Law School (wife want ATL, I want my hometown CHI.)

Always into watches I first started collecting at when I enlisted at 17 years old. I stopped collecting after I learned that I was buying Japan movement fashion watches and could not yet afford quality timepieces

After returning from Afghan I develop the itch again. With better money management skills and better income I thought I started buying quality Swiss Timepieces, but they were ETA movements in pretty cases.

Combing through this forum provided a multitude of knowledge which pointed me in the right direction. Although a small start my first good piece was a Datejust ref. 1603 and my Omega Seamaster Pro 2531.80...incoming tomorrow is my GMT Master II 16710!

All in all I just want to say thank you for all of the help you all unknowingly provided and I hope to get to know you gentlemen better as time elapses.

First, many thanks for your service!

Second, what's wrong w/ an ETA movement?

Third, congrats on your GMT.

Thanks for your service and welcome to the forum. We have a couple of things in common! My mothers side of the family is from central Mississippi, small town called Louisville. Ever hear of it? I am originally from the New Orleans area, but now reside in Atlanta. This is a great place to be to learn of all things Rolex. Many of the members are experts, and all are friendly and hospitable. If you move to the ATL, maybe we could meet for a beer one day. Take care and be safe.

Welcome home! Where are you located now? I highly recommend Ole Miss Law School. Last year Ole Miss was voted #1 Most Beautiful Campus and #1 Most Beautiful Coeds by AP or some other news service. And Oxford is a great town. Also the MSARNG JAG tends to take on law students if you want to stay in the Reserve/Guard side. Congrats on the GMT! One of my favorite watches! Semper Fi, Rick
