GMT Bezel Inserts..

I've been quoted a good price from my AD to replace my insert in my 16710. I'm thinking of swapping out the coke and replacing it with a pepsi for the new year.

I purchased the watch pre owned and had the dealer swap out the black for a coke insert.

Is there anyway of telling from the serial number what insert the watch came with from the factory?

I could be wrong, but couldn't you tell if you had the original paperwork?

Watches stand in the window, but most of the AD's will change the bezel upon request before individual delivery.

Unless it is a specific model, eg fat lady, 16700, etc, which was "one go", and depending on the combination of bracelet, Oyster or JB and / or a twin metal, eg gold and SS, or all gold, the bezel delivered is non specified by the model number, to my knowledge.

But why worry, you can change the bezels at any moment, at around a cost of E 40-50.

This is what I do

Thought about doing the same, but each time I look at my Pepsi bezel, I like it more. Coke second, Root beer third, all black last. But with any color or style, it's all a matter of personal taste.

Yes. For certain years US version of papers indicate bezel color.

Ex: A D Series Coke has an "A" in the model# - R16710AXXXXXXX.
Pepsi has "B" and black has "N" in this position if I am not mistaken.

Sorry, folks, but I'm a black bezel person. It's the only one for me and the one I think looks best on the GMT.

I prefer Pepsi B "MAX".
The black looks a bit 'subby' to me E.

You can swap the bezel insert yourself if you like as well. It's quite simple.

The green tag that comes with the watch usually has the model number and the bezel code. My Pepsi had 16710BL/R and the black has LN.

I have theory (not yet confirmed though) that all 16710s pre-2000 came with red-black bezels.
