Simple question. I have never used, tried on, or really liked the look of a NATO strap on, say, a SS Sub. That said, anyone else feel the same and catch the bug and prefer it after they gave it a shot????

It's just another option and a different look. I put my Red Sub on a Nato and I like how it looks. This has beecome the watch I wear with different Nato straps. The other watches I wear with the bracelets or leather straps they came with.

Basically they are very light, comfortable, and easy to change, and cost hardly anything at all. I have a number of different colors.

For me, I don't prefer it....but I do like it as another option and a different look. My Sub c stays on its bracelet, but I can play with my 16800 and give it different looks quite easily. Same watch...different bezel and different NATO.

Thanks. Not sure why, but found the pearl and lume on that model tends to patina more than most...which I rather like...and which is why I own one.

Seriously I couldn't agree more, how can you totally wreck a sub by putting a nasty brown leather NATO strap on it!! Bad bad look!

I've used the NATO or Zulu/type straps in the 17 inch version for all my dive watches in order to easily get the band to fit around a dry suit. Otherwise, I prefer the original bracelet of a watch. From a utility perspective, those straps are awesome and dirt cheap, but aesthetically I tend to prefer the original look of a watch with it's original band.

I don't have a NATO on my Rolex, but I do on my Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical. I wear it because it suits the style of the watch, it's comfortable, and if I were to break a springbar (I use the Hamilton as my outdoor/camping watch) I don't have to worry about losing the watch as the other springbar will keep it on.

They are comfortable and make an old watch feel totally new. There are so many options. Also prevents wear and tear on your metal bracelet if you aren't using it.

I think it's a great way to mix things up and give your watch a temporarily different look. It's not for everybody, but I'm sold on it. It's cheap, comfortable, fun and harmless to the watch.

Ironically, I've received more compliments on my watch while wearing a NATO/Zulu than I do with the oyster.

As others have said, it is easier to adjust to fit over a wetsuit, won't get scratched and you don't risk losing your watch due to a spring bar failure.
