daytona bezel's

can't figure out what is going on with the bezels on the gold daytona's. some have arrows and some have dots like the ss models on the tach scale. what year did they change from the arrows (triangles) to the dots?

Yes, I noticed the same thing since all recent gold models used to have the track with the little arrows as one of the main distinguishing factors unless you knew all the dial variations....... However, on the new YG version, it appears to have reverted back to the dots like the SS models.

But as far as I can see, the WG and RG appear to have retained the arrows and track. But I'm not a Daytona aficionado so hopefully someone that is will chip in......

Strange

My understanding is the SS bezels are dots and the gold models have the triangles. Thomas (TSW) has a panda dial on his SS Daytona, at a glance it looks like a white gold model, but the bezel gives it away as steel. I dont think the bezels are interchangable.
I am sure a Daytona expert will chime in soon to clarify

Triangular markers appear on the white gold and rose gold models, as well as the yellow gold on leather strap models. The dot markers appear on the steel, steel and gold and yellow gold on bracelet models.

Yes that is correct Paul, I was lucky and got ahold of a WG Dial to my SS Daytona two years ago

The Bezels are different less material on the gold ones, And I honestly don't know if they are interchangeable.

I agree, I also liked that the arrows always set the gold off from the ss models.........or so I thought.

I think (from looking at a million pictures) that the ss and gold are truer to the daytona roots. The daytonas of old had the dots and not the arrows. So when did the arrows come around?

I was wondering the same and asked the AD the other day.

she said:
RG/WG have the arrow bezel, for the Paul Newman YG because it has the older bezel style to keep with the older watch theme she said.

but my bro's YG black face has the older style bezel as well
