My father's watch
Greetings TRF,
I just thought I could share a little piece with you. I'm quite close to my father and we talk about music very often (he came with me almost every time I bought a guitar and on the way home with the grail in the trunk he would always tell me which one I should buy next...can you see how we're related?) but when it comes to watches he cannot understand how I can spend so much money on them! However he does not hate the pieces I own and the other day he accepted to do me a little favor and lent me his timepiece so I could show you some pictures of it. Yes, it is a "my father's Seiko" thread but I really like this watch and although it's not really an in style nowadays I think it looks quite good! And we zoom in on the dial! Wrist shot (on mine, I need to see if it fits me very well in case he would like to get rid of it someday...one can wish...) Sorry for the big load of pictures! As you can see it's quite a small watch and it's very simple but it does go very well with a shirt and some dress jeans as well as a suit! And now for the big finale, here's my father's wrist with my Accutron (my apologies for the blurry pictures but taking those shots made me sit in a weird position and I could hardly stand still on the couch)! Like father like son... Thank you for watching, feel free to comment! P.S.: Yes, my father's watch is working with a Quartz movement! For those who would ask, he had it as a gift from his father so the watch is at least 30 years old if not 35 and it always worked very well (the only parts that were changed are the band an the battery from times to times)!

That's a beautiful piece! You must be very proud to own such a watch (especially since your grandfather gave it to you).

It is for a 30 years old watch!
I find it quite amazing that the gold plated parts aren't more faded after all these years!

Great watches, both! Particularly love that Tiffany. The Seiko is a classic.
I have my father's 14K Lord Elgin manual retirement watch that he got from Chevrolet in 1950. It's actually in right now having the scratches buffed out of the crystal and getting buffed. Hope to be able to post pics soon! |
