Giving a Rolex to your girlfriend

I was out shopping for a Rolex Sub Green dial and had a conversation with someone in the mall. He purchased a watch for his girlfriend for valentines day.

I wonder what will the girl reaction is? Also, do you think it will overwhelm the girl? Any idea?

Nah she'd love it, just don't get her a Pepsi GMT, she might think it's ugly.

Wait: are you trying to guess what a stranger's girlfriend would think about this gift?

Are you contemplating such a purchase?

Rolex's are for wives no girlfriends...just one man's opinion!
You give them a Rolex Daytona for your 3rd month anniversary of dating...it's all UP HILL FROM THERE!!!

You need to spring for a diamond first if it's serious enough and maybe a Rolex down the road when you tied the knot, otherwise give her a TAG since it's nice enough for everyday wear and won't seem to have strings attached...good luck!

I guess it all depends on how long you've been with your GF and whether you're considering marrying her in the future.

I don't think I'm cheap but..... less than a year of dating qualifies her for nice dinners and quality time spent with me =P.

All joking aside, it really depends on the seriousness of the relationship.

My recommendation is: not for the girlfriend. Will it “overwhelm the girl”? Probably not. You’ll likely just be spending too much money on someone who may or may not be in your life in the foreseeable future. Only time will tell. However, if you think this is the one, perhaps it could be the gift that tells her you mean business. Well, only a diamond says that, but this is a close 2nd. You’re call mate! Good luck!

It'd depend on the guy and the girlfriend and the relationship and the circumstances.

Hi all, I am new to this forum.

Am i the first female who replies on this thread?!?! Well, just got an Exp ii 42mm from my BOYFRIEND as a Christmas gift (which brings me to TRF). Lol, I guess I am more than a girlfriend to him then. Our relationship is turning 8 yo. I am happy but not overwhelmed. Planning to get him a ss Daytona for his 30th.

Giving a Rolex to your girlfriend

Not if you ever want to see her or that watch again.

If I ever bought a Rolex to my girlfriend I would most probably see the girl again since we're in deep love (time for everybody to say "aawww")!

...Can't say the same about the watch! She lost two bracelets I bought her in less than a month after the gift was given. Yep, she's a pro!

If its not your wife, in my humble opinion, don't do it. Get her a burberry watch, or a gucci watch. Not as expensive and still fashionable.

I'd save the money on the rolex and add the funds to the ring if she's that important.

A couple days ago, I ran into my ex gf I haven't seen in a couple years. She was wearing my Hamilton I gave her when we was dating.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like it! Maybe a diamond is next, for now lots of rubies. Did you get a white or black face? I keep lusting for a Polar Exp II. I'm hoping for a SS daytona for my 30th though, maybe you can put in a good word to my wife.

I bought a former girlfriend a nice Seiko watch as a gift, but I wouldn't give a Rolex unless it was a long-term relationship (>5 yrs, IMHO). Every relationship is different though, what works in yours may not work in another, and they shouldn't be compared.
