Explosion of members ?

A good thing in itself....the more members, the more interesting threads that get started
But does anyone know why the numbers have suddenly gone through the roof recently ?
For my first 6 months here, the general Rolex forum was running at 25/30 people viewing at any one time. Now it always seems to be running at over 200......it seemed to happen all at once.
Any ideas ?

I think:

1/ More broadband/internet users - especially with the older generation
2/ More wealth worldwide in general
3/ People genuinely have a yearning to find out more about their beloved Rolex!

I noticed and wondered the same thing. It is the forum recording software or has something happened to this forum. Positively, mind you.

Without sounding tacky I feel it is because this is the best Rolex forum on the web at this time. I can think of one (that many of you know of and or are members of) which has more eye candy (Rolex photos) especially on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, but they do not have the great caliber of people like we have on this forum, so as a result this forum is better. There has been alot of advertising as of late(rolex). Friends of mine have also shown alot of interest in watches lately. Not necessarily just rolex but watches in general. Rolex seems to be modernizing itself just a bit and its getting some people to notice....Like Me

Well I'm also new here.

It's by far the most active source of information on Rolex. I am disappointed that some sites and forums see it fit to either ignore the brand or bash it constantly.

I'm hoping to acquire a Sea-Dweller in the near future for my birthday.

I have to say...of all the forums I am involved in TRF is by far the most respectful and informative. Its refreshing to see people have such fun and conversation over timepieces.

This is an observation, and only that. I've noticed that the prices on Rolex (secondary market) have seemed to gone down a touch. As a result there are more people doing the following:

Looking for watches now that they are down a little.
Looking to sell watches on the forum.

Some people come on here to do both or one or the other. For example, I know there is a sub-date on another forum that is being offered in the low $3k range. And it is in super good shape. The seller had to lower his asking price (good to begin with IMHO) after it not moving. If I didn't have an SD, I'd be all over this watch.

Just my two cents.

Mitch

I've owned Rolexes for over 15 years. To be honest, I never knew this site existed until I happened across it one day just surfing the web. That was about 4 months ago, but only recently registered as a new member.

Great site and some really funny off the wall stuff sometimes between members (JJ's sheep saga). The moderators seem a little more tolerant on this site than others.

PHP message boards are pretty much the rage right now. They are addicting. I belong to several golf boards, a few Toyota 4runner boards, and a frequent flyer board (same name on all of them). Message boards are great sources of info.
