WWII-RAF Rolex Oyster Chronometre
hello all,
I recently acquired this watch. It seems to be a from the WWII period. And based on the inscription was used by a British Pilot. There seems to be 2 sets of numbers, one of which could the watch serial number and the other ?..It's not the servicemen's number as I've checked that out and it a different number. Any information on the watch and how I can authanticate it will be much appreciated. Thanks. nathan |

Very beautifull movement! Note that it is timed to SIX positions!

Hi Nathan, welcome aboard!
What a great find! Would be interesting to see how well the dial and hands clean up.

Great find.........
Looks like those hands will clean up nicely. Not so sure about the dial though... Looks like 1940's....You need a vintage expert. Scratchings inside cover seem to indicate VII '47, but it's hard to tell. The bottom number seems to be original to manufacture while the one above it was stamped after manufacture. Good luck with this. Last edited by Tools; 29 August 2007 at 12:48 AM.. |

Something tells me the movement is not original for the case but I can be mistaken.

Thank-you all for the warm welcome..
The watch does run, but it definitely requires a good overhaul and cleanup operation.. |
