Movements with chrono modules

Are movements with chronograph modules any good when it comes to maintenance and servicing?

Can such movements last for the long haul?

I read from a source that they can be pretty hard to fix.

Does this mean i will need to bring it to the authorised service centre? Can independent watchmakers do the job?

The Dubois Depraz chrono module is one add on and is used on many chronographs including the Tudor Heritage with the ETA 2892 movement.
This module IMO has had some issues in the past and I would expect that Rolex blueprints it before adding it to the Heritage model. A watchmaker could replace it if required but I doubt it would be to the same standard as the one Rolex installs.

Agreed. The latest offerings of movements w/ add on chrono modules are much more robust and better engineered movements than the originals and should stand the test of time. Module servicing requires specific tools not all watchmakers have and because of the economies of scale it's easier and less expensive to replace rather than repair.

Are modules found in the movements of vintage watches?

Glashutte Original currently uses a module in its Senator Chronograph Line.
