Unfortunately, the GMT-Master is now worth............. ZERO DOLLARS ($0).
No lol, just kidding, its worth a bit more. Anyways, keep in mind the sky-dweller will be priced very highly, i believe in the 30k ranges. So it shouldn't affect the GMT really. Or will it? |

Aren't you impressed by the movement, at all?
It really would have been a letdown if the Sky-Dweller had been just a GMT-Master with different colors. I think most pilots are still going to be drawn to the GMT, but the highly paid business executives of multi-national corporations and WIS jetsetters are going to be the market for the Sky-Dweller.

1) They already had a watch that could keep time in THREE time zones at once. 2) The month complication is not necessary, because who forgets what month it is? I'm sure once the built the movement to keep track of days/month it was easy to add to the face so they just did it, but that doesn't make it that useful. 3) I DO like the perpetual calender, THAT is actually a useful function. I just personally feel that this is not a useful watch. Granted, I would never buy a $30k watch, with the exception of the WG Blue Submariner, but even then i'd probably be scared to wear out of the house, haha. |

Seriously when Rolex move into holy trinity territory price wise, I think its safe to say they have lost their way. A calander function would suit a DD better imo. Of course, then it wouldn't be a DD. |

I believe this is the baby steps it takes to get into grand complications. 10 yrs from now who knows what is next? I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for my favorite "big dog" watch co.
I say bravo! (although not my cup of joe) :) |

We hear this every year!
The same people who were upset by the design are eventually drawn to appreciate it and eventually warm-up and yearn for one. Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 of us cannot afford it! I think it's rather nice! I bet you have to handle this watch to really appreciate it's personality and functions. But even in SS this would be way too pricey! Zenith made the Captain Windsor with a chrono function and at a third of the cost! |

I doubt it would be to bad in stainless.
I mean the sub ceramic stainless is what, $8k? In WG it's $29-30k. Really the price of gold is what drives these up in price. |

Right. And that is a lot of gold.
Add to the fact there's no day function... I think it'd forget it's Wednesday before I forgot it's March. |

Why should Rolex start building complicated movements that everyone else is already making or that Rolex abandoned decades before. I think because they are "so last century" and again, why should Rolex copy anyone with what is now an old and unimaginative design. Rolex is Rolex. I do agree that these efforts are harbingers of new and more functional mechanical movements for a new century.

Isn't the break-through that the sky-dweller can tell the difference in 30/31 day months - My datejust doesnt do that, but then again it was waaaaaay less expensive.

Agreed- I am just pointing out if they build it to know the 30/31, they may as well use it on the dial and that part seems nice and descrete. The rest isnt quite so nice to look at with clear hands and different size number markings and all that hot mess ~

To be honest if Rolex had reintroduced a 6542 heritage many would have complained they never do anything new.
No matter what the company does it's wrong. That's why they sell so many watches. |
