Just because it shares a little bit of the name doesn't mean anything. You ever seen a Chevy Corvair.......

That applies to the updated Submariner too?

I mean, I kind of see your point, but not in the same direction I'm afraid. I consider the DSSD an improvement upon the SD. Just like the SD4000 was an improvement upon the SD2000 - although, come to think of it, maybe some would argue this as well.

The 16600 is perfection. There are plenty out there, just buy one, and be a happy man forever.

Come on, the DSSD is obviously the SD replacement; to think that Rolex would revert back to an older design with less depth rating and no ring lock system, and then update the case to modern day is just ludicrous. There is no need for two depth watches in the line like that. The SD was already a pretty slow seller before being discontinued. And my AD says the DSSD is not a fast seller either.

I have a Sea Dweller and I love it. I agree the DSSD is too big for me and I would never buy one. However, that is pretty much the watch you are left with if you want a serious diver watch that out-performs the ratings on the Sumbariner.

Besides, they've been too busy putting together that Sky-Dweller abomination

I owned a Sea-Dweller 4000 for over 16 years until the idiots at Ben Bridge Jewelers messed it up, they put a nice big dent in the watch. I had to send the watch to Rolex Dallas service center to straighten things out. Rolex Dallas did a nice job. I was so fed up i sold the watch.

Tudor Pelagos in titanium looks good, i think it will resist dents much better than stainless steel. I think.

I posted the same answer in another thread. Was wondering when the OP was going to ask the question again about the SD 4000.
