TT Blue Sub date

I am considering pulling the trigger on a new watch and the TT Blue Sub is high on my wish list.

One question: Are there variations in the date background between watches?

The ones Ive seen at the ADs appear to have a gold background as opposed to the one on the Rolex website which appears white.

Hi Rob,

Good choice. The TT Blue Sub has always and still has a yellowish date background.

Hope you get yours soon and can become a member of the "Blues Club".

Good luck - JJ

Thanks JJ

I guess the ones they show on the web site are touched up for dramatic appeal.

(or else they're Folexes )

It would really depend on the lighting at the time. Just check out one for real at your AD and you will see a creamish tint to the date background.

Compare this with the SS Sub-date which has a distinct white date background. You can place them side-by-side as a comparison and be the judge.

Good luck and don't forget to post pics when you get it. You know how much we love pics!!

Cheers - JJ

Nice Pic Dr. Bull,

That's exactly as it appears in person at the AD with the golden (yellow, off-white) background. As I said I think that the ones on the Rolex web site are a bit misleading for whatever reason.

My only hesitation in getting the Blue Sub is the fact that I already own an LV and I think that it may be good to expand my repertoire. However this watch really calls to me and I love the deep Saphire Blues that I see on these dials/bezels......

Hi Bob,

as far as I know, ALL date backgrounds on the TT Blue Subs are "yellowish" to match the gold bezel, crown, golden writing on the dial and the gold centre links.

I started a thread here a while ago regarding the date wheel colour on TT Subs (mine's black), and the general consensus was that they're all off-white.

Remember that advertisements and brouchures routinely get color 'corrected'. If only the Big Macs looked as good as their pictures! :)
My subs date dial is off-white too - certainly not yellow though.

Come ON! "Yellowish" or "off-white", "beige" etc. is the same thing

But THIS is yellow for sure!

Not so. My TT black Sub has the same off-white date wheel as the TT blue. That's why I posted the question recently, it looked as though the date wheel on mine was starting to age compared to the dial itself. Several members here confirmed that all TT Subs have the off-white date wheel.

Not to dredge up an old post.. but, I'm trying to research older Bluesy's to compare with mine.

I have a 1996 S series with Swiss T<25 dial. Another member stated that my bezel looked aftermarket...but it's the one that was on it when bought "new".

Any photos of similar watches would be great...
thanks

Maybe the current models (Basel 2008) have been changed to white.

I bought mine last week and I'm very happy with it, the date background color in my watch is cream or yellowish BTW. One thing I noticed is that the dial blue color in my watch is a tiny little darker than the z series, mine is m series and at the AD I spoke to a representative about it because they had both and ask the question why one dial is tiny little darker than the other and he noticed the same but satated that the daylight effect should be the reason.
This weekend I visited another AD looking to check the TT Daytona and they had a Blue sub TT Z series and the dial color was little lighter than my M series.

Do someone else notice the same???? . I do like both m and z series colors BTW.

I just noticed that this thread had been started last September and not earlier today.

I see it was Steve (pwrslider) who brought it back to life.

Yup, the faux pais on the Rolex website is not indicative of the actual watch.

The green LV isn't for everyone...even if you have one, the blue TT is so different that you can wear either one and have a great, different watch each day. I have a SS and a TT Sub. They look great very different but also quite alike. Get the blue...it is awesome.

Mine is definitely more "off-white" than light yellow. That said, Rolex is known for having batches from the factory with variations in color, font and text size. There are two distinct "S" fonts on the first letter of SUBMARINER, with one looking more like a backwards "Z", kind of more angular and straight.

The odd font on pwrslider's bezel insert may just be another case of Rolex printing slightly different during that batch.

hmmm...That is a very different bezel font, indeed! I have seen variations in font thickness and even different "4"s, but that is completely different.

Hopefully one of the experts will chime in!
