The $9k Sub LV???
Not sure if any of you NYC guys have seen this...
I was at the Tourneau on 57th and they had a pre-owned D-serial Sub LV for something like $8900+ So what does it look like??? Um, SS, green bezel, black maxi dial... wonder if they'll give me a similar trade-in value |

I believe he's saying that's a ridiculously high price for a pre-owned Sub LV and since he owns the same model perhaps they'll give him a likewise ridiculously high credit should he trade his in there.
I agree. It helps to speak NYese. Edit: Hey, Mike. Are you back so soon from your dive trip? How'd it go? Post some photos over on the Pictures board.

It's just a day trip to wreck dive off VA beach. I'll try to get some pics but I no longer have a good underwater camera. I'll see what I can come up with though. |

Ouch! And I felt the pinch when I had to pay full MSRP for my LV. I'm enjoying mine, but if an LV is selling for that much there then I'll be glad to sell them mine. For that kind of money I could buy another one and buy something nice for the wife so she will finally stop bitching about how much I paid for mine if the first place.

Silly. Were there even D series LV's? That was the vintage of my GMT ll which I bought in April of 2004. I though the LV came out in 2005. My LV is a Z series. I have a good relationship with my AD. I paid MRSP and not a cent more.

That price makes the "LV" stand for "Looney Vampire".
That AD really DOES suck blood, doesn't he?

I'm hoping to make the LV my next acquisition. I love the maxi dial, the green of the bezel insert, and the overall Sub configuration, which differs in weight and design from my SD and GMT.
I'm trying for a 10%-15% discount if possible (btween Toronto to Montreal, I'll check the big ADs and see what I can find). The price originally posted in this thread is way out of line to me....... I would think that since the LV has been out since 2003, there should be no premium, and the ADs shold be discounting them by now....... C |

The LV is currently selling at $5525 USD.
I have yet come across anyone who has manage to get a discount on the LV in the US or Canada. There was a member in the UK who was offered a discount, but the discounted price was still above the US MSRP. And even though it has been out since 2003, it's unlikely that you will walk into an AD and see one in the case. Some people have, but it's a rare situation. So if you really want the LV and have an opportunity to purchase it, I wouldn't walk away just because you can't get a discount. |

I've been seeing it all over the place, with many ADs pulling one out to entice me... I think they are much more available today (I wouldn't say this anywhere but on TRF, as I don't want to reduce the value of my own LV!).

USD 8,900 sounds like a pretty steep price. Next thing to do is keep an eye on it and see if it sells or goes down in price.
I got my LV, which was just sitting in the case at a department store, in-house AD. It surpised me too to see it. I bought it at MSRP, but because I had that store's shopping card, I was entitled to a 5% discount on any purchases, which ended up giving me a pretty good deal, considering it was at a Rolex AD. My feeling is that until Rolex discontinues the LV, I don't think it willl appreciate tremendously. |

I'll try to keep an eye out and see what happens. I'd like to be there when it sells (if it actually does) so I can see what a "sucker" looks like

I picked up my LV last Wednesday from my AD (Ben Bridge) here in Austin, TX. I went into the AD the Saturday before to be placed on the waiting list.
Sunday morning, 10 minutes after they opened, I got the call stating that one LV had shown up in the company wide inventory system at one of their stores in California. They asked if I still wanted it and I of course said YES! The watch arrived 3 days later Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately I was unable to get any discount, suposedly because the LV, Daytonas and new GMT II's are vice president allocated, so I paid MSRP. I did, however, get 2 free Wolf watch winders.

I was in a Tourneau a few weeks ago for the first time. Despite all of the negativity I've heard about them, I went in with an open mind. I was just browsing around looking at all of the fine timepieces they had. I set my eyes on a pre-loved Panerai 8 days. I asked the salesman if I could see it. I never had the opportunity to try on a Panerai before and I didn't want to pass up the chance. As he pulled it out of the case, he said; "The Radiomer. It has a Jaeger movement with a Rolex case." On the other hand, I encountered a female employee at another store that knew more about different brands than alot of us probably have forgot. She also said that she used to work at Tourneau, but had to move on

Man the price went up on that. My AD in Oregon sole me the Z series for $5525....last price on my Z series last March. Called me up, held the watch and I love that watch. I would never buy from an AD who would sell over MRSP. That white ss Daytona that is coming my way eventually will be sold to me for MRSP. I would not dare to ask for a discount.

I bought my LV at Tourneau about 6 months ago. The sales rep knew I wanted one, and called to let me know that they had one in. He said that it is priced at msrp., but the manager stipulated that the buyer had to also buy the extended warranty for $350. I told the rep I would buy the watch at msrp, but not the warranty. He went to "talk to the manager", came back, said I have to get the warranty.
I held out, dragged my feet, fell silent. Finally the rep said he would ask one more time. Came back and said O.K., just for me, he had "begged" the manager and he finally said O.K. So I bought it. And love it. Re the ss Daytona at Tourneau L.A. for 16K - I own a '99 Zenith white Daytona. I wore it one time at Tourneau, and the manager spontaneously offered me $4,500.- for it as a trade in. Of course I refused. But this gives us a good picture of the kind of mark-up these guys try for. Larry. |

Any AD that charges more than MRSP on any watch is not going to get my business.

Are you seeing them in the case or are they being brought out? And was a discount offered or was it still MSRP?
