FSOT: 1947 HUGE Omega ref 2505 manual dress watch (lower $, more goodies)
I am offering for sale this beautiful, unique and rare specimen: 1947 Omega reference 2505 gentlemen’s dress watch with an Omega 265 manual wind movement (recently serviced and keeping spectacular time).
I have seen a few of these for sale in different forums, but I’ve never seen an ORIGINAL dial and ORIGINAL hands in as nice a condition as this watch’s. Also, looking at the case and lugs, it looks as though it’s never been polished. What makes this particular watch unique is its size. It measures 37mm without the crown where as most of the watches produced in and around this era with the same movement were 33mm. I purchased this watch from another forum member who has fantastic taste in watches and who offered to sell it to me via PM before he even posted it for sale. While I absolutely love the watch, I do not find many occasions to wear it (I’m a student and I work in the restaurant business and I would NEVER think of wearing this there) I refer to it as my “poor man’s Patek” as it really does have that beautiful and classic look. Photos cannot capture the guilloche of the original dial at the second’s hand, but I have to tell you that the detail on this dial is amazing. While in my possession, I sourced an amazing Di-Modell alligator strap for it that is 18mm at the lugs and at the tang so that I could fit it with a modern Omega buckle and it also gives it a much larger wrist presence. The original Omega strap with buckle will be included (18mm lugs, 16mm buckle). The new straps fits my 7 ¼” wrist with plenty of room to spare. As you can see, there’s virtually no wear to the strap (I’ve only worn it outside of the house 3 times). I also took the time to source the proper original signed Omega crown for the watch (it came with an ugly unsigned crown which I will ship with the watch) and my CW21 watchmaker installed it with a new stem. So, to summarize, the watch is signed four times (including caseback). It’s been recently serviced and keeping awesome time. It’ll come with this gorgeous and comfortable strap I found for it as well as the original patent leather signed Omega strap and buckle. Also, I will include a BRAND NEW never mounted brown croco Omega OEM strap with vintage-style buckle. If I forgot anything or you would like additional scans, et cetera, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at [email protected]. Oh, I will also include some photos of the watch beside my 36mm DateJust so you can see what an awesome wrist presence this watch has. I am listing this watch at $765 NET to me shipped via USPS anywhere CONUS. International shipping and insurance will be extra. I would consider trades, and I like all sorts of (mechanical) watches, so feel free to PM me with offers. No returns unless grossly misrepresented. I also reserve the right to sell to whom I please giving priority to members I’ve dealt with. Thanks for looking! My price breakdown: Watch with original black Omega strap/buckle -- $650 Installation of proper Omega crown + crown ------ $80 Di-Modell strap ------------------------------------------- $80 Omega buckle --------------------------------------------- $40 New brown Omega strap (received in trade) ------ $80(value) Total Value ------------------------------------------------ $930
