HELP: Soon to purchase a Diver, but from?

Im in a bit of a dilemma, basically I'm looking to purchase an AP Diver, but do i buy it from here(australia) or wait a couple of weeks and and when i travel to the states shop around and buy one there?

my price i received in australia is $14500
my question is how much is a AP Diver in states(California area) retail and how are is the discounting? also is there stock?
i know the rough price of a diver selling on the forum is 14k? is that relatively a good deal? or can u receive a bigger discount in some places?

One thing you may want to consider is taxes in the states vs your quoted price. At $14,500 that seems pretty good deal, not sure you could do better in a store.

Great choice

Tough to say...

While good discounts can be had usually they are reserved for clients the AD has had a working relationship with. Coming in off the street may be tough to find that kind of discount. Good luck though!

Another thing is consider is whether you need to pay duty when you bring the diver back into Australia. Here in Canada, it's 18%.

14500 aud or usd? If its USD then its a good deal if the watch is BNIB. I have seen a few divers gone by 13500USD in US on the net but they dont come around very often.
Then you might get caught by the custom :)

you go to the states alone or with someone else. May be getting the GST back at the airport! and switch watches on the way back.

If you were quoted 14.5K at an Australian AD, that is a very very good price!!!

Which AD offered you can get a diver for 14.5K??

If you buy it within a months of departure you claim the 10% GST back at the airport on the way out so the watch will only owe you 13K.

customs rarely check your claimed GST item back to Australia. It's a used item!

Customs never check, if you are worried post the box and paperwork back from the US and wear the watch homes, still intersted to know where you found a 14.5K price, only two ADs in Sydney and only one of those had one two weeks ago.

if that's the price get it here, you don't need to worry about exchange rate and CC service charge, that will end up more than your 14.5k offer in AU

Dont forget you get 1/11th in tax back, if you havent considered that? making the purchase closer to $13.2k, surprised if you could do better than that, I recommend Hans at HourGlass, build a relationship locally IMHO...cheers

$14.5k USD or AU? Either way, that's a great deal if quoted at an AD.
