That's an interesting idea. My wife and I get new wedding bands every 5 years. That way we can keep up with style trends and have something that might mean something to future kids/grandkids.

SS is a cool option. Thanks!

My wedding band is SS but not 904l. Teno is the brand and I am quite happy.

As far as I know only two companies use 904L in the watch industry Rolex and XOSKELETON 904L was first developed originally for its resistance to things like sulphuric acid and shows a little bit more resistance to acid corrosion than 316L.And for watch cases and the jewellery trade mainly uses 316L surgical grade S.steel in many ways 316L is better for jewellery. There is nothing magical in 904L only the fact that it costs slightly more and thats mainly down to less demand over the 316L the industry norm.The main and only difference between 316L over 904L it has slightly more Molybdenum(Mo)approx 2% more,and approx 1-2% more Chrome(Cr), 1% more copper(Cu), and approximately 10% more nickel and thats it.



904L typical applications include
Processing plant for sulphuric, phosphoric, and acetic acids, vinegar pickling factories.


Pulp and paper processing

Components in gas scrubbing plants

Seawater cooling equipment

Oil refinery components
