This is a 1978 1675 GMT, 5484XXX serial number range.

I am not an expert by any means on older Rolex watches.

A couple people have told me they think this is a Mark I dial.

I would appreciate an other opinions: yea; nay; something else?

If you do some searches here on TRF there are a few very extensive threads that are extremely picture heavy, that should point you in the right direction

The Mark-1 should have the long E.

I'm still having trouble making a determination, so I thought to solicit some opinions from those who have had more experience.

Notice the Long E on the Mark 1 Dial.

The watch appears to have the proper dial. The insert is not original to the watch. It all depends on the price...

Has the watch been serviced? If not, allow enough $$ for a proper service.

Does it have box/papers, orignal bracelet?

Depends what you are looking for?

If you refer to "Buddy Orchi's" write up, your GMT has a Mark-IV.

A mark 1 dial will have all three arms of the "E" of equal length. What dial that is I am not sure, but again it is not a mark 1 dial.

Dial is a MK4, period correct for a 1978 GMT-Master.

MK4 totally. I have a MKI and it is LONG E. Not sure about the insert. What I am sure of is that it has been polished a little bit too much for my tastes. There are no chamfers on the lugs.

Its a MKIV, Totally correct for a 78. If it had a MKI like those people told you, it would trouble as that would be correct for a 67 or so. Take care Mark

The dial is 100% correct for a late 1970's GMT. This was the last style of dial used on the 1675's. The bezel insert appears correct also for this circa GMT. Enjoy the watch!
