New DateJust II Smooth - Black

To me, this new Basel release is the sleeper of the Rolex line. I am falling in love with the new DateJust II in all-steel with the smooth bezel, fat stick markers and black dial.

Why are there no pictures or reference of this watch on Rolex's website? They only show the silver dial. The only picture I have seen of this watch is this "live" shot from the Basel show. Why would Rolex be so coy about this new model?

I think it's a great improvement over the fluted bezel, personally, because, while I think fluted bezels look okay, I prefer smooth for myself.

If only they make one that is a NON date version or a date minus the cyclops so the dial is clean and uniform looking. But this piece is still beautiful on its own right.

Looking foward to seeing these in the metal.

The fluted bezel was the only thing holding me back from getting a DJII.

Rolex just doesn't post all availible options on the website, and they never have as long as I have been looking.

Great looking watch.

Definitely a beauty. I wonder how the (large and polished and very exposed) bezel will look after a bit of wear, but, otherwise, quite nice.

I love it too, and wonder if there'll be any new dials offered?

I am sure that will all depend on how well rolex sells these first 2 models they will introduce. If sales are high, there is no doubt they will come out with more dial variations.
