New guy
I've been lurking for some time now and thought it was time to start posting.
I started my Rolex journey this year when I bought a 1971 Datejust from a friend. I didn't think much of it at first, but the more I wore a Rolex the more I enjoyed it. My Datejust kept excellent time and was well cared for until I filled it with water while swimming with my son on a Sunday afternoon. The following day I dropped my watch off for service and I found my wrist to be bare without a Rolex. I knew I was in for a new hobby at that moment. It would be a couple of weeks before my watch would be ready so I did what many of you would do and visited my local AD and bought a new Sub LV. This forum has been an excellent source of information for me, I look forward to being a member and starting my own collection. Last edited by klmore; 17 September 2007 at 08:27 AM.. |

Welcome to TRF, Kelly. Sorry you had to damage your DJ in order to start building your collection, but you will not regret adding to your collection. The LV is a good choice (if you like green ). Post some pics when you get a chance.
Stick around and join the fun here.

Sorry for the pictures. The copper counter tops in my kitchen have and odd reflection.
I wouldn't have thought taking a picture of a watch would be such a challenge. I really need to work on my camera skills. I should have cleaned up the DJ more, the pictures don't do it justice. |

Welcome Kelly
The Datejust you have is a 1601, and has a very reliable and rugged 1575 movement I'm not surprised that your Date-Just has grown on you over time, it is an outstanding watch. The ingress of water into your watch might have been due to the seals perishing and that begs the question how long is it since you had it properly serviced? Nice green sub too! |
