It's Masters Week!!!!!

Well I'm packing now to leave for Augusta tomorrow. I'll stop by my moms house tomorrow and be at Augusta Wed-Sunday. I'm very excited about this year. The most excited I've been in years. This will be my 20th Masters. For golf fans it doesn't get any better than this. If you haven't been it's amazing. I honestly don't think there is 1 blade of grass that's not perfect at the start of the week. I'll keep updating as the week goes on. Anyone else going?

I'm jealous that you're going. I've had Thurs/Fri requested off from work for a few weeks now. My favorite weekend of sports for sure.

So does the new CEO (female) of IMB and big Masters sponsor get an Augusta National membership as past (4 I think) CEO's? I think no chance at all but an interesting dynamic potentially.

And lets not forget the debut of the film being released by the 3 porn stars that claim to have had relationships with Tiger.

Oh, the golf....that should be pretty outstanding as well.

To answer your question no and that's not my answer but from members I know. I also asked 2 weeks ago about Ernie Els getting an invite but couldn't get any info on that. She will not get a membership in her name. I know several members and 2 very well. I don't want to sound sexist but it will be a long time before a woman will become named member at Augusta National. Annika asked for one and was denied. I know there are women that play every week the course is open for members to play but the membership is in their husbands name.

Illpost pics from Wed. Thursday-Sunday no cameras allowed. I will be able to get in the clubhouse on Wednesday but no pictures are allowed in there because there are members lists everywhere and when they play. Augusta keeps it pretty tight lipped. I'll get pics of the grounds practice green and range. Should get them up Wednesday night.

I usually go but took my funds and made a media room for myself this year. 120" (that's right, 10 feet) of pure hi-def action headed my way in the comfort of my own home Watching the Golf Channel early coverage as I type.

I must not be watching the same tournament. Jack has the most with 6, then Arnie and Tiger both have 4. After that there are quite a few guys with 3 wins.

Not sure where the 7 is coming from.

Yep - but the right answer is more involved...

Sorry if anyone feels this was a trick question - it was "tricky" but in the sense that we automatically associate Augusta and Green Jackets with The Masters Tournament.

The tradition of awarding Green Jackets at Augusta actually began at a different course. The first Green Jacket was awarded to a winner in 1937 at the Augusta Country Club, not at Augusta National Golf Club.

The Masters didn't award Green Jackets to winners until 1949, and Sam Snead won that one. In 1937, members of Augusta National wore green jackets during the tournament so that fans in attendance could easily spot them if a fan needed to ask questions. But none were given to winners until 1949.

SO - here's the twist, the first Green Jacket was actually awarded to a winner at Augusta in the 1937 Titleholder's Championship. That tournament was held at the Augusta Country Club and the director chose a Green Jacket as part of the award (copying what everyone had seen the members wear at Augusta National).

It was given to Patty Berg, who went on to win a total of 7 Green Jackets between 1937 and 1957.

So there's the twist - and it will win you a couple of drinks along with disgusted looks at the bar.

I can't wait for the 1st round to begin. The Masters is by far my favorite sporting event of the year. If you love (or even like) golf then there isn't anything else that compares to being on the grounds of Augusta National. It is truly breathtaking!!

Enjoy the tournament.

Got here around 900 this AM. Pretty avg day. A lot of media events and cleaning up the course from the storm. Really wet here. Watching some of the practice rounds almost everyone in the fairway is getting mud balls. If it doesn't dry out they will have to go to lift, clean, and place. Met up with my uncle and some of his coworkers this am. Was in the clubhouse for about 1 hour. Saw a few people I've met in the past. Got to talk To Fred Ridley the director of competition for about 10 minutes on some of the changes and course setup. I'm off to the par 3 course now. Apparently paddy Harrington is on fire over there. Something like 7 of 8 holes birdied. I'll report back in a few hours.

Hope you have good day. Hate to say it but worse storms on the radar for Thursday - hope those will dissipate before that system arrives.
