Do you regret scratches?

2 years ago I scratched the clasp in my tt sub while climbing mt cadillac in Maine. When I fell and saw the scratch I was horrified! I pretended it didn't bother me since I proposed a few days earlier on the beach in kennebunkport and didn't want her to know how mad I was.


Every time I see that scratch now I feel a happy memory about that vacation and our engagement. Dare I say I'm glad it happened! Anybody else have similar experiences?

They don't bother me a bit...although my watches are brushed stainless. If I had a TT (which I hope too soon) or solid Gold I get the feeling it would irk me a good bit for a few days to put a serious one on it. But in the end it's just a watch, and that's good it doesn't get under your skin. Heck, they are no fun sitting at home!

Scratches don't bother me on my watches cars RV or boat. It happens with anything you use. I try not to sweat the small stuff. I usually never notice scratches until I wash my watch out every few weeks.

This is exactly why the watch gods invented Casio G-Shocks......the penultimate H.U.R.T. (high utility risk timepiece)......my choice for running, climbing, cycling...lightweight & strong......bah humbug, G-shocks are my tool watches, Rolex are my jewel-tool watches.

I am careful in wearing my watches but I don't overdo it and spoil and not enjoy, scratches or not, it's the wearing that I enjoy.

And yes, I have gotten some incidental and accidental scratches that has some memories attached to it, don't bother me one bit though I remember each one and how I got it. The beauty of Rolex and memories.

I have a pretty big dent in the bezel from the second time I walked into immigration court, the door closed rather quick, and I was trying to move the hand out of the way of the door, and the watch slammed into the other part of the door, the frame, all metal, and

WHAM, or more like a loud metalic TANG (that everybody heard) and I immediatly cringed and smiled to myself at the same time, having thought about scratching the watch up earlier that day.


It's tough to see cause gold has a good shine that hides scratches except at certain angles, but I can see it and I love it.

The bracelet is getting a pretty nice patina underside too.

I get to scratch the hell out of a DD. How cool is that???

When I got the watch brand new I was nervous about scratching it. But this feeling is gone. I still take good care of the watch but do not worry about the little scratches. This would come anyway no matter what you do.

The only way to completely avoid scratches on a watch is to leave it in its box.

I bought my watch to wear. I don't like getting scratches, but accept acquiring them as inevitable.

who will take the car for repair for only a few small scratches? i have scratches on my 13 months old Explorer 39mm bracelet, yes it bother me for the first time, but you move on. Are you planning to sell the watch immediately? Next time you service the watch in RSC, they can polish everything for you again!

I love wearing my watches and scratches are going to happen. So I do not worry about them but I do try and not bang my watches hard on anything. But from time to time that happens also.

A watch with scratches is a watch enjoyed by the owner. Dont let fear of scratches limits you to enjoy your watch. Be extra careful, but a scratch is impposible to avoid. Just think of it as "added character" to your watch. Every scratch tells a strory...

My IIc has gotten a level of "patina" on the bracelet that is a bit irksome. None of the scratches are OMG big, but the effect over time of 1000 cuts leaves it beat up to a level that annoys me just a bit, but it's still beautiful. Plus, it just means that when I service it in one or two years I get a happy surprise.

Scratches are one of the reasons I prefer to buy used (the savings is the main reason of course). When you buy a used watch it comes ready made with some scratches so you aren't bothered by adding a few more. Same concept applies to new/used cars for me.
