richard mille?? worth it??

Hey guys, I just wonder why richard mille watch is very expensive, my dad is a richard mille fan when I asked the reason why he just said because all of the watches are very limited. Only that, the quality of the watch is not really reasonable for the price, but because they are very limited and exclusive it balances with the price. Do you agree with that??

It's a very precision in-house movement. I've been interested in them for years but I hesitate to jump in because a) they wear huge and b) you could buy a Rolex for the cost of service.

You are paying for the build quality and the exclusivity. Everybody in the world reaches a price point that is their personal zenith. For some, it's a Seiko, some a Rolex, and for some very fortunate individuals, a Richard Mille. If you can afford it, it's worth it.

I would say they are worth every penny, The craftsmanship and quality are excellent.
And some of the technique and material they use are from F1 cars and airplanes.

Here is my favorite model!

Damn, those are pretty. BTW, they are well beyond my personal price point for the forseeable future.

I'm not qualified to question the merits of the RM mechanics, but with regard to aesthetics they seem a bit over the top and somewhat garish. Not only that, they are so busy that they barely satisfy the basic functional requirement of 'telling the time'.
It might be more cost effective to have a custom tee shirt made up [could be Zegna, Versace etc.,] printed with "I am really really rich....." or if you do use an exclusive Italian designer.....Io sono veramente ricca!!!! and forget schlepping half a million dollars around at the end of your arm.

I struggle with the size of a standard AP Chrono and therefore definitely find the RM too big. I have tried a few on but its just not my thing......

Luckily .......

When I see his RM 011 it's just too busy for me in my opinion and too big for him, but wear a RM give a different feeling for him, he said. The brand name is very poweful, but for me the price just too high for a watch.

Using the same design logic I assume the F1 car doesn't need wheels.

If you can afford to pay for the innovation go ahead but RM does not fit my criteria for value.

Sounds like a great timepiece. Just looking at the pcitures, they appear to be the grandfather clock on the wrist HUGE... but like I hear about my beloved bark all the time: "to each his own".

I say, it's worth it to you if you can afford it and you feel good about it.

It's not as big size as you think, because of the curvy shape of the watch. Hublot king power, Breitling Bentley and some Panerai models are bigger size then RM 011.
Just feel different wearing this watch on your wrist.

Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen, for our Highlander is about to start another incoming thread!

As for Richard Mille, they look very special indeed and the limited edition aspect is interesting but with their looks I'm afraid I wouldn't be interested to own one unless I had other more casual and versatile watches. However, I must say that from what I read (although I haven't read that much on them) their movements are supposed to be very amazing.

Ken, a RM would bit your collection quite nicely. Just a few months to wait.

There is a RM in eBay for $162.50 but the description says it "needs work" cracked glass and doesn't take batteries. HAHA
