Keep or Sell
BACK STORY: I bought a Blue Tag Aquaracer back in late November. I got a decent deal on it considering retail is $2,100. In early January I noticed a flaw on the dial. Knowing that I was getting my Sub-C soon, I decided to wait to take it in until I got my Rolex so that I wouldn't be without a watch.
Got the Sub in late February and that same weekend I took the Tag back to where I bought it to have them send it in to Tag. Couple weeks go by with no word so I called Tag directly to check on it. They said it would be about 4 weeks because the movement was on backorder! Hmmm... sent it in for a dial replacement and you're replacing the movement?? I then called my retailer who sent it in and he stayed on top of it, checking the status weekly. Well, after not hearing anything for awhile from my retailer I called him for a status update. He said that Tag has been giving HIM the run around; they told him to call back in 3 weeks for another update. Before I could even express my growing anger, he said that he had already contacted his corporate HQ and their company would allow me to get a new watch to replace my original one that Tag has. So basically I will be getting a brand new Tag Aquaracer Friday. Question is, do I have it sized and keep it for my collection, or should I not size it - keep it new - and sell it?

Keep it if you are going to wear it, otherwise sell it.

From personal experience, the Tag will be getting significantly less wrist time now that you have the Sub.
I would sell it

Keep it for when you need a beater, or want to fly below the radar.

i would see what i could get for it - if i wasn't taking a hit on it i would sell it - whats the worst that happens? you go out and buy another new one with little to no net loss...
vs. you do size and wear it, realize it doesnt get enough wrist time and end up selling it for more of a loss anyway. |

I had my Tag for 9 years before i acquire a Rolex. I am still keeping my Tag and wear it from time to time.
For your case, I would advice you to sell it BNIB because the Tag will get significantly less wrist time. Trust us on this |

I gave my tag to a family member, as I have no need for it now with 3 rolex watches to choose from each morning...

Maybe your AD would allow you to apply it towards another Rolex?

TAG is a piece of junk, IMHO. Sell it as BNIB and enjoy the Sub.

I love blue watches, if you are getting it back BNIB I would keep it and wear it
If the chances of wearing it are slim to none, then trade/sell it for something you want.....maybe a blue omega |

Ok, so I'm leaning toward selling it... possibly putting the $$money$$ toward the next Rolex, but that wouldn't be for some time yet.
What's the best way of going about selling it? I'm not a "trusted seller" on here, but only because I've never sold anything. Recommendations??? THANKS!

I too would sell, not a tag fan but I can also see holding it for a back up. Tag does not hold value well at all so it may be a bit of a tough sell and require a good price to move it. Perhaps contact one of the trusted sellers here and see if any are interested or just post yourself in the FS section and see what happens

The store that I bought the Tag from isn't a Rolex AD.

No particularily keen on the 300M Aquaracers, so I would sell it BNIB and see what you can get for it. Selling it would certainly help defray some of the acquisition cost of the Sub.
I do love my 500M Aquaracer, though, so I'm on both sides of the fence. Cheers, -Marc |
