Questions to ask before buying a used Rolex?
Over the past 2 weeks I've read many posts here to educate myself on all things Rolex. I have decided to purchase a DateJust 16200. I'm hoping you could help me to know what questions to ask about particular watches as I'm shopping around.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Rich |

Just the generic ones:
1. Who got the receipt? from AD or what? 2. Has it been serviced before? 3. Are you first owner? 4. Any problems? 5. Can you go any cheaper? lol |

Always start with the seller's credibility. References, sites where he/she is known as trusted. If that doesn't check out, nothing else matters. The amount of scamming and deception out there in the reselling marketplace cannot be overstated.

I always ask DavidSW or Tony (Justrolexes) for their best price, and if there is any way to get it to my house even sooner than tomorrow morning!

You want to ask as many questions as you can think of to get the answers you want and you must keep asking until you`re satisfied that the seller is genuine. If the seller is genuine he will answer all your questions without hesitation and if he`s not some of his answers will not make sense and he`ll get annoyed or frustrated with the questioning, you`ll soon see his behaviour change if he`s trying to pull a fast one.Be polite but persistant and you will soon have the anwers you need.
Once you have determined that the seller is genuine then you can turn your attention to the watch. |

Are they the original owner? If so, do they have everything that came with the watch? If not, do they possess box/papers-warranty card/hang tags/bezel protector (if applicable)/all factory links??
Nicks/scratches/dents/scuffs/dings/abrasions on the case/bracelet/crystal? Has it ever been serviced/repaired/modified? If so, who/what for? Do they have the receipt from the service? Does it keep good time (+-6 seconds is a safe standard)? Much easier to do what Saddle stated above.... |

I'd buy from an AD and save all the headaches.
This way you know the watch will be the real deal. No ands, ifs or buts. |

trusted seller
If you know which Rolex you want, you don't have many questions left to answer. You really can't ask questions to protect yourself from a crook-- they just might not tell the truth. Once you find a trustworthy seller, there isn't much to ask. At this point, all your questions should be about the seller's references.

Hi guys please help if possible
I’ve recently purchased a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 15210 2006 model. With an engine turned bezel.
I gather all (including modern produced) models are 34mm. Secondly what is the history of this particular model as I have heard and read many people refer them as the mix between the air king and the Datejust. I’d love to find a little bit more about it as I’ve had a Datejust before and this seems somewhat different in many ways. Thanks a lot for your time people. Kind regards Dave |
