Tropical resort destination advice please
So my mom is turning 70 in Jan 2013. When she turned 60 we went to Princeville in Kauai as a family. My dad and I have been tasked with picking the place again. As of right now the contenders are Peter Island, BVI and Le Taha'a in French Polynesia. What other places do you guys recommend. Must haves include great snorkeling and great food.
Please share good or bad experiences with the places listed above and also throw out any other places you think deserve a look. Thank you in advance. |

If you like Kauai (my favorite of the Hawaiian Islands) you'll love French Polynesia.....I have been to Tahiti, Moorea, Bora-Bora, Raiatea-Tahaa & Huahine....all beautiful....just bring lots of money!

Loved Kauai, Princeville was a great place to stay. We are trying to avoid big crowds and the "big resort" feel, which is why we are leaning towards more private places like Peter Island and Le Taha'a.

Depending on how many kids/teens you have in the family, Club Med can certainly be worth looking at. Certainly less "adventure" than exploring it all yourself but at the same time it is so relaxing for the brain and soul, and the kids have tons of stuff to do.

Hawaii is awesome...
Just discovered Kona...have been going to Maui (Kapalua and then Wailea) for decades...Kona is kind of like going back in time. The Fairmont Orchid is fantastic. Tahiti seems nice but an awful long flight.

A bit less than 10hr. flight from California to Tahiti, & IMHO well worth it.

No kids, me (27) my sister (30) my dad (63) and my mom (70). Mom has had both hips replaced so can't walk for long periods of time. Now I'm leaning towards the Hilton in Bora Bora, the Tripadvisor reviews are pretty decent.
