buying used
hey guys a friend of mine has found a pretty good deal on a used subc. the seller has box and paper work and the serial number on the card matches the serial number at the 6 oclock position. the card is stamped and dated from an AD. with all this stuff checking out is it safe for him to buy? or should he still take it in and ask them to look at the movement? with all the horror stories i just want to make sure that hes not getting ripped off

Personally I don't like to open up watches unless they are going in for service. Even at an AD something could get in the movement. Buy the seller and you shouldn't have to worry about getting screwed. I'd rather pay $500 more from someone I trust.

with all this stuff matching up there is no way for the seller to try and pull a fast one....is there?
edit - how could it be possible for the seller to fake the documents and serial numbers for both warranty card and on the watch. plus have it stamped from an AD. |

There's no reason to pass, especailly with all that documentation. Find your local AD and pay them for an inspection

if your friend is paying for the inspection at an ad then why would the seller object?

thanks guys i will tell my friend to take it in. i think the best bet is for him to take it back to the AD that the seller got it from. since both the seller and the AD are local. so far everything looks good but you guys are right why not make 100% sure.
thanks again to all for the help. this is what makes this place a great community |
