Who Here Is Bracing For These Storms In The Midwest??

I was on the road tonight from Iowa City to Cedar Rapids, and I am 80% certain that I nearly drove through a tornado - green sky, tremendous lightening, and the wind/rain/golf ball hail made it impossible to stay on the roads. I hightailed it to the nearest rest stop for a good 20 minutes. It doesn't help that my mom is visiting and she is asking me every 5 minutes if she needs to go hang out in the bathroom for the remainder of the night, this looks like it will be a loooooooong night!

Be safe everyone!

I've been watching the live video feeds from the storm chasers. The one I was watching was in Wichita near the airport when the tail end of the tornado struck their vehicle. Lots of damage around there.

I am telling you guys, this was the first time I actually got a little scared driving in a car with some weather. The commercial pilot in me told me I had enough time to get ahead of the storm after looking at some of the radar signatures, but I really should have listened to my gut telling me to "stay put." The lightening was just out of this world.

It is scary---quite the feeling of being at the whims of the weather----we kind of live with it here---teh severe storms laboratory is here and we get good notice---but it doesn't lessen teh fear when you just do not know when it will stop. Frankly, if it doesn't scare you then you are either really brave or just crazy!

Michael, did you get any damage last night in your area?

This afternoon I was watching footage via Channel 9's helicopter of a tornado near Waynoka. It was quite chilling!

Tonight, the wind howls. We've got a few branches down but nothing major.

My brother in law's house in south Wichita was damaged. All, including the new litter of puppies, are safe.

All ok here, I am not sure if we are getting a second round of storms today or not though.
