My friend's new Rolex - what do you think?
I need some more informed experts on this case.
My friend's friend bought this at a watch show, pre owned. This picture was sent to me. I'm not sure if box/papers are included although he was told that a box would be sent to him. Not sure of the serial, the year - but I do have my suspicions of the quality of the watch. First, the bracelet and case do not match IMO, unless I'm mistaken. Also, from the pics, the crown looks pretty beat up. The bracelet also appears to be pretty beat and has some stretch from the pic... not to mention it appears polished. I told my friend to get it authenticated and to make sure it's not a frankenwatch. Opinions and do you guys think this is a frankenwatch? What would you pay for a Rolex in this condition? Thanks.

Really hard to tell from the one photo provided. The date window magnification looks wrong, but that also could be the angle the photo was taken. My recommendation is to have your friend take the watch to a reputable dealer who can't authenticate it.

Given the fact you took the picture from above, I think the date window is all wrong. Saying that something's telling me it's real non the less. Can't explain it.

You think it's aftermarket dial?

I see... aftermarket dial.
So, you think he underpaid or overpaid at $2600?

I'm not sure if I should inform him of these issues... he's happy right now. I don't want to burst his bubble.
Maybe I'll keep it to myself.

Yeah but he may get mad at you if he finds out later that you have your doubts. Especially if he can return or exchange it.... Just MHO...

Hi! This is my first posting, i've had Rolex since i was 20, i'm now 68. This i can tell from the picture, the letters are very poorly made, they are not aligned and the height and width is irregular. The bracelet is very crudely made and the serration on the bezel is rough. I agree with haydendillon and directioneng. I do not feel comfortable making a negative comment, but $2,600.00 is a big sum of money.

I think the movement should be checked ASAP just in case your friend needs to take some action against the seller.....and.....that's way to much money for that watch.....people get blinded by bling....

Look at the diamonds, to me they look like they aren't evenly displaced. The 2 on either side of the date are off. The bottom stones between 'Swiss made' are off center.
The 2 stones at the top between the crown logo aren't centered. I would say that some are different sizes then others, but picture isn't all that good, and neither are my glasses. Your friend needs to find the seller and and have a talk, sorry, this dial is horrible looking. Wonder if the box will be sent and what the papers say. Do your friend a favor, have it checked out, that's what friends do, help each other
