Explorer I 39mm or Planet Ocean 8500 42mm
I have been a member of TRF for a while, but I don't post much. My dilemma is, I have the Omega PO on the way, but I still am partial to the Explorer I 39mm. Any advice.
Thanks |

I vote for cancelling the PO, save a bit longer & get a pre-owned 36mm explorer & a 14060 sub....2 classics.....no longer in production.

PO is an amazing watch. Maybe it'll speak for itself when it shows up. Good luck.

PO is a better watch IMHO. The 8500 mvt is truly amazing and I would say its a superior movement than the Explorer. The fit and finish of the PO is great. The fact the exp has no date is a total killer for me (even if it had a date is still take the PO)

How can you compare the two???
It's like saying I ordered a steak for dinner, but I really like Kung Pao Chicken. |

I would agree. I own both watches and love both. But, if I had to choose, it would be the PO. A truly striking watch with a KILLER movement.

Are you diving with the watch or is it just for show? No offense but if its for show than go for a Sub instead. But if you ARE diving with it then between the two go PO

I think if you already have the SubC, maybe go for the PO something different, if you didn't have any I would say go for the Explorer I.

I don't own an explorer I, but I haven't had any complaints about my 8500 PO since I received it a few weeks ago

Exp gets my vote!
Assuming you don't actually need to go 2000ft underwater, I'd go with the Explorer I for a more comfortable wear due to the smaller and thinner case. I have the expI and the seamaster pro chronodiver (which is a little bit thicker than the PO) and I find the need to remove the SMPC occasionally throughout the day cause of its weight. Don't get me wrong, the Seamaster PO looks awesome while being a very sturdy watch (you can probably use it as a knuckle duster and deliver a world of pain without adding a single blemish to the watch, then proceed to making your escape by diving 2000ft into the ocean) but I find comfort being a huge factor since you'll probably be wearing it daily doing normal people stuff.
Plus if you wear a suit, the explorer I's small case is easier to slip under the cuff. l I made the mistake of wearing my SMPC to my wedding, while its a very cool looking watch, looking at photos, it looked like i was gonna say "I don't", punch my wife in the face with the watch as a knuckle duster and jump into the ocean for my daring escape. (I realized that it's generally not a good idea to wear a chronograph to your own wedding ... very difficult to resist the temptation of timing the ceremony!) So anyway, I suggest you get the ExpI first, if you still want to later, get the indestructible PO later at least you'll have a robust yet IMO better fitting watch for dressier occasions if needed. |

depends whether you own other watches, at least another dress watch. PO is not dressy enough. i would suggest the exp 39mm

I like the PO but I'd rather cancel and get a Rolex as others have posted.

I love my explorer I. It is an understated watch. Only people with an eye know what it is!
