LV Bezel Insert ?
Was thinking a spare green insert for my 16610LV might be a good idea. Who knows what they'll cost in the futue and barring war or famine this is a keeper.
A quick search found a few selling for $500. more or less, from trusted forum sellers and ebay. Called RSC Toronto and was informed the everyday price is $90 on an exchange basis only, and only they perform the exchange. I politely ask if it's remotely possible that they are confusing the price of the black insert with the green, and was told no, you can bank on it. Asked my AD to see if he could source one for a reasonable price with no exchange. He said they need to provide a serial # to order the black insert with no exchange nessessary. He has never ordered the green, but will look into it. I know the ways of Rolex are a mystery to say the least, but this is begining to sound too bizarre. If any other 16610LV owners have had any insert experiences could you please share. |

The only experience I have with this is based on what I have read here. It seems that Rolex although they have controlled these parts fairly tight in the past, they are making it even harder to get one.
It sounds like the best way right now, is just to wait until you need your existing one replaced and do it then. In the meantime if I find a good deal I might snap one up as a backup. The 16610LV has become a pretty hot commodity lately, as such I think there might be more turning their 16610 LN's into 16610LV's without the maxi dial.

As you have found out, it is not difficult, nor is it expensive, to get a green insert for your Sub... just not a "spare".
You can send your watch in, or take it to any Dealer and they will exchange your LV insert for 90 bucks.. a little bit higher than they were a couple of years ago.. Rolex does not sell "spare" anything to owners. However, if you were to suddenly lose your green insert, you could then take your Sub in and they would fit a new insert for you..

Much thanks for the quick and educational replies, TRF never ceases to amaze.
Lots of great insight this morning guys, seems I've hyped myself up needlessly, and thankfully the rumours about Rolex exploiting the prices on LV inserts are totally unfounded. Unless my AD surprises me with a green bezel at cost, I'll just wear my LV and cross that bridge if and when I get to it. |

(Clearly this is a thinly disguised way of asking if it's at all possible to create my own ceramic version of the 16610 LV. )

It's hard to get "spare" parts for the watches. Especially the desirable bezel inserts and dials. Rolex keeps tight control on them. That's why some Daytona dials go for thousands. The actual price from Rolex isn't that bad but sourcing hard to find parts can be a nightmare. Simple supply and demand.

In the end what you are paying is to have something that few people have as an extra... And since it is getting harder and harder to source lv inserts, then prices increase more and more... But no one is forcing anyone to go and buy an expensive insert...
Who is to blame the one that charges a lot for an insert... Or the one that magically loses the insert so he can get one for 100usd...

In the uk these green bezel inserts for the 16610lv are outrageously high price, EVEN from Rolex......I think they are around £280.....

Hmm... or maybe buy the LVc bezel off someone that already owns an one, with the plan for them to send it in to Rolex for a replacement.

The service costs of LV inserts are now a thing of the past
An LV insert is now approx CHF600 or USD660, if you can find an AD that sells one. LV inserts changed at service have also increased in price to said CHF600 and about GBP300 in the UK.
