Revitalizing my 1986 Day-Date President
I posted elsewhere the good/great work Michael Young did refurbrishing my Day-Date bracelet. But I also added a new dial so I wanted to pass-along all the changes and post some pictures of this now almost like new 1986 Day-Date.
This watch was my dad's and he wore it everyday for 25 years before he passed a couple of years ago. So it has lots of sentimental value to me. He passed the watch to me. Unfortunately with all that wear, the band was really strecthed, so the first thing I did was have Michael Young refurbrish it, and if you look at the pictures he did a near miracle. The band is not as good as new, but it's close. Here is the bracelet before: Now here it is after: Next up was the dial. I was never a fan of the champagne dial - it just seemed like every older YG Day-Date had this dial and it really blended and seemed slightly dull. Having seen how the white dial makes the YG DD pop, I put on one of those on. Here is the watch before: And here is it after: So there you have it - an almost new Day Date for $875 for the bracelet and $810 all in for the new face and few sundry other repairs. All in all a pretty good deal for a completely, almost new feeling classic Day-Date. Thanks Dad! |

Looks great! From the photos it really looks like an amazing job tightening up the bracelet. I also agree with you, I think the white dial is a little more striking, much more so than the champagne.
