Bigger IWCs may be better?
Today, I got to try on some oversized IWCs.
3799 Top Gun - 46mm 3777 Pilot Chrono - 43mm I had always felt the 42mm 3717 was the perfect size for these Pilot's watches. While the BP line is still too big for me, these new IWCs are pretty nice looking on the wrist. I was shocked that the 3777 seemed larger than the 3799. The ceramic 3799 is sensational... hmmm. |

Nice!
I like that Top Gun. Had one a couple years back but couldn't get used to the plane on the dial.
Nice shots Mike. I wish I had an IWC dealer close by.. |

When I was at my AD last week, they showed me a few of the new 2012 watches. Many of IWC's watches are too big for me and I'm not a big fan of the new 3-date wheel in the Classic Pilot. But I do love that IWC is beginning to use in-house movements across more of the Pilot line. The new Pilot Spitfire Perpetual Digital Date-Month Calendar (ref 3791) is pretty cool (dial is a bit busy).
I love that IWC is putting more time into developing movements. |

Great PICs Mike, thanks for sharing.
The 3717 was always my favorite. I like not only the way the dial looks, but also the size as well.

Waayyy too big. Which is too bad b/c IWC makes some of the classiest dials at reasonable prices.

3717 is where it is at. Or the old 3227 Ingie.
Someone has to tell the marketing MBA's from Richemont Group running things at IWC to stop with the over-sized watch (hey, look at me, I'm the person strapped to this giant watch...), the military logos and fake patina. The one watch I don't mind being big, at 46mm, is the Big Pilot. It is in direct reference to what the original pilot watches strapped outside the aviators uniforms used to look like (I think they were something like 55mm at that time). Hang on to that 3717! :-) |

That can easily be remedied! ;-) The 3227 is a bit harder though...
I'm thinking of adding that one, if I can find the right copy. It is such a no-nonsense watch and it flies under the radar, which I really like. |
