I've read many reviews of Pro-Hunter Rolexes but have never seen them in the flesh. Does anyone here wear one? Will u get a pro-hunter rolex as your first rolex?

Any wrist shot of your blacken will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys.

"Those" watches are not real popular here in "TRF". Not my cup of tea at all.

I prefer an original Sub to a "Pro-Hunter"

Also, 20 grand for a Sub is hard to swallow.
(Let me rephrase, " A stainless steel modern sub", lol, I think many of us wouldn't hesitate to drop 20 on "right vintage")

There was a thread not so long ago on PVD / DLC coating and a TRF member has one . .

I don't prefer pro Hunter, it is more expensive and lost Rolex warranty, more expensive to service it....

I wouldn't get a pro-hunter as my first Rolex. I'd recommend a regular Rolex as a first, it may change your mind on the pro-hunter.

Not very popular here, but I think there maybe a few.

I would recomend doing a search for some old threads on the sublect. But these threads usually will generate some lively comments:

Not my cup of tea.

Some like it, I think most here do not.

A bit too expensive for what it is.

Anywhere from someone basically benifitting from someone else's hard work.

The fear as to what happens when you scratch the case. No longer so good looking, and almost impossible to fix that kind of issue.

It can't be serviced by Rolex, but you can find an independant to do it.

Each to their own, but not a fan either.

The only one I have seen that I liked was a guy on here who does a lot of diving has a Sub with DLC coating, red second hand, it looks pretty good, but I think he did the work himself.

Well said, Dan.....I'd heard all of those issues and I knew it from the beginning that 'these rolexes'
are less attractive to most of people here. But who knows if theres someone here have a different perspective regarding the blackens.

not my cup of tea either, but here in geneva, a lot of people use black out concept rolexes, they make a very nice daytona in my opinion.

I am personally a fan, wish they were priced a little cheaper, but with a black nato with dlc'd hardware, they are BEAUTIFUL.

first time i saw it it's beautiful, i posted once in TRF about this kind of question, but after several times saw it in person when i passed the shop, it's made me off, it take the classiness of the watch.

By the way one other thing that comes up quite a bit, not that you'll ever want or need too.

What happens if you decide or need to flip it?

It maybe harder to find someone to buy it, and you may stand to lose more money when you do so.

Okay I get it. The point here is customization like what Fisker does with other company's production cars. But is the only value added service just the DLC process? And for that they want 3x the MSRP of a Sub Date? Sounds like a rip-off to me. At least Fisker customizes cars so much that you cannot tell it started as someone else's production car.

But go ahead and buy it if you have more money than you know what to do with.

I couldn't agree more. Once we have plan to purchase it, we gotta change our mind-set. Spend more and forget about the resale value.

X2. I like them and if I hit the lottery I'll buy one. I think theyre cool but stupid expensive. There are millions of Subs out there. No harm in turning a few black as long as its not a rare vintage. it's a watch for someone with a nice collection. Not an only Rolex. I'm really not sure why moding a watch is hated so much on here but as long as its done right no harm. There must be some buyers. Ive seen them on eBay actually selling for a good bit more that a plain sub (I'm talking bids too, not just buy it now). IMO no different than modding your car. Nothing wrong with making it your own. If I were to get one Pro Hunter would be the only company I'd use.

There are many other great brands that offer watches with a PVD finish, I would never own a Rolex with one. I just don't understand why anyone would do this to a Rolex.

Rolex does not offer cool stuff like this, just like they don't offer rubber straps for their divers. It is ridiculous but thank goodness other brands do offer options like this. This is why I feel it so crazy to only wear Rolex, there are just way to many other brands that offer more variety.

Stay away from a pro hunter, go look at Panerai or IWC if you want a PVD finish or black ceramic case.
