Package delivery today with a new addition
Last month I went over to my local AD to check out the new ExpII and compare it to my current (old) ExpII. While I thought the changes to the new version were nice, I wasn't enamored enough to consider a switch as my ExpII is one heck of a nice watch. But I caught a glance of the new GMTIIc in the display case and it was love at first sight. What grabbed my attention was the polished center links and gloss of the new bezel. It's a watch that is dressier than my ExpII and has more wrist presence than my DJ. Here we had it - a sports watch that can serve duty in more formal occasions. The ExpII was the first Rolex I've ever owned with a GMT hand and at first I was worried it would be a distraction, but have really taken to it. So the past few weeks I went on a mission to sell my DJ and find a great deal on a GMTIIc in like new condition.
This arrived today... |

A great duo!

The ExpII is for work and the GMTIIc is for play. My ExpII already has some war wounds so adding a few more won't bother me, but the GMT is brand new and shiny!

Having one watch in white and the second in black is so nice. I wish Rolex would offer more white face options. After wearing the new GMT for the past few hours I will say that I can really feel the weight difference. My old ExpII is so light compared to the new GMT. Also the cheapy clasp on the ExpII is endearing and it's sad that new Rolex buyers won't have the strange pleasure of its simplicity!
Weird but the new GMT makes me like my old ExpII even more, must be nostalgia kicking in... |
