I find the directions Patek and Omega are taking to be very interesting.
I would have expected Omega to do better, and very surprised Patek is doing so much. Thanks for sharing.

In the U.S, Omega is a "hidden gem" and well kept secret. Of course, watch enthusiasts are different and more in the know. But, anyone wondering why the Omega brand has less cachet than Rolex ( while offering similar quality) here can simply take a look at the advertising stats. Rolex spends what? Almost 5X more? Wow....

Interesting for Audemars Piguet to spend so little, vs some others. I agree with Dan, surprised at PP amount spent.

Advertising dollars aren`t going to get me to buy an Omega with the Silicon balance spring or the Co-Axial escapement,I want to see reliable results from a movement before I spend my money on a brand and so far Omega innovations have not stood the test of time.

I get your point but the 8500 mvt will be around for a long time. I know it's somewhat different but what if this new parachrome ble hairspring starts failing in 10 years. I know a new movement always has the chance of issues but with all the computer technology and the improved manufacturing techniques I think almost every movement by a top watch company will be around for a very long time.
