Buy a daytona 116520 in Hongkong?
Hi Bro, I am considering to buy a black dial Daytona 116520 V series. I have checked the retail price in SG which is SGD14,500 (90K HKD). But ADs sell it at premium price at SGD17k (HKD105,400). I am going to HKG this weekend and may want to buy it in HKG if price is right.
I have some questions. 1. How much the AD price in HK? 2. Which AD in HK can be trusted? Any contact? I heard stories that people bought fake rolex in AD shops in HK. 3. I am confused of the series. V or Z is better? Is the bracelet different? Many thanks.... |

Retail price in HK is 87,500hkd
But you have almost 0% chance of getting one from AD. Unless you will be referred by VIP and an additional premium of more than 10% for black dial is expected. Better is get one from trf land ;-)

It's interesting that in some countries, the AD's mark up the prices above MRSP.
I was talking to my local AD here in Melbourne a few weeks ago, he said it's actually illegal to charge more than the MRSP here in Australia. They also said if a customer wanted a SS Daytona for instance, they could get one in, but that they needed to be an existing good customer, and that they wouldn't do it for a walk-in, it seems to be a common practice in parts of the world ... |

There is no chance that you can buy either SS Daytona at list price in HK.
However, if you know someone who is a VIP customer, you might able to get one through him and expect to pay a bit more-still cheaper than UK. If you worry about buying a fake in HK, don't venture beyond Rolex AD. (You can check them on the website) The main dealers like Emporer sell watches with tourbillon and are owned by some of the richest people in HK who do not need to earn his living selling fakes that cost few hundred dollars. There are also Rolex boutiques if you are that worried. |

No AD in HK will sell a fake Rolex, period. Neither will they mark up from list.
As others have said , your chances of walking into an AD and buying a blk dial 116520 V serial is minimal. V serial & onwards have the newer clasp. |

Ditto to everyone's feedback about the black dial stainless Daytona. They do sell for a premium over the white dial.
Three of my ADs have them in stock but do not display them. If someone asks the going price is 99K. I've only been able to attain one a few years back at MSRP. At grey dealers you can likely get one for around 95-96K. If you really are serious let me know and I can knock off probably 1K from a close grey dealer. They point is that they have no problems moving them at a premium Si there is no need for them to discount any further.

What is 100% illegal is Rolex telling the AD that if they sell below RRP that they will lose their license. Have read posts where AD salesmen have used this as an excuse why they won't /can't discount.

Lot's of AD's in HK. If it is a real AD, you won't get a fake. Go to Causeway Bay or Central, AD's on almost every corner.

Causeway Bay area has plenty of AD's and Boutiques or go into the Japanese department store Sogo.
TST Canton Road has 4 boutiques to my recollection or go into DFS Galleria Peking Road or Harbour City. Mong Kok has loads of AD's along Nathan Road. You should be able to get at least 5% off in most AD's . |

I don't know if it's legal to charge above MSRP but I'm certain Rolex frowns upon it just as they do with discounting.
There are AD's in the US that will charge list for a Daytona but charge 20% more on a pre-owned. Tourneau is a prime example of this. |

I'm thinking the 'S' in the MSRP (in the US), is possibly the same as the 'R' in RRP (in Australia). ie. suggested/recommended ???? Have no idea if it is illegal to sell at above MSRP in the US, although I do think it would be very bad form in either country if any AD would sell above MSRP/RRP. This IMO would be a very short term strategy as customers would not tend to forget the ADs opportunism.

Indeed, I would not custom an AD that tried to charge me greater that the MSRP / RRP. My AD did say that they never have, nor will they, charge a premium for any watch that they stock. They also said for high demand / short supply watches (ie Rolex sports models), that their existing customers, if they've expressed an interest, get notified first so that they have first chance at purchasing before the watch is put on general display. Hence, it is extremely rare to see a Daytona or a Sub on display as they go to their 'preferred' customers first. Which is a good thing, I've spend heaps of money there, and would like to know that I will get preferential treatment to keep me coming back.

Surprisingly, the AD here in New Delhi had a few SS Daytona's on display.
On the phone they asked for a premium over the MSRP but when I went to the store he was willing to sell it on the MSRP. |

According to my understanding, prices in HK are quite good as are they in Singapore. I would not believe that one would get a fake one from an AD.

Thank you for all your info and sharing. After asking around locally, finally I have decided to buy it from a reliable source in Singapore at 95-96k HKD. I look forward to collecting my new daytona next week.

I bought both of my Rolex in HK. I went to King Fook the store in Central the main store. 100% trust them. I was there last week and bought my new ceramic sub from them. :D very happy!

Not so sure why you want to buy it in HK? I presume that the watch you are getting is not BNIB as you are looking for a V-series daytona. IMHO, buying watch in HK is not consider cheaper than in Singapore, just alot of choices. You can go to Sg-roc forum to look for one and if not sure, just verified it at the RSC. I bought mine ard 13k+ BNIB alpha series from the forum just this year.

An AD in the US cannot sell a new watch for more than MSRP. A little trick some ADs were doing with the popular models was filling out the paperwork if the watch was sold but the watch never left the store. The watches were then sold as used "never worn" with the markup of several thousand dollars. I think Rolex really put a stop to this in the US.
