An "Alarming" find in my old closet...

I was at Mom's today and found this old T-shirt hanging in the closet of my old room... I wore it to the U2/War concert tour in about 1983, when I was 19 years old. The Welsh band The Alarm was the opening act. My boyfriend (now husband) and I met Mike Peters and the rest of The Alarm after the show - it was a small crowd as not many Oklahomans knew about U2 at the time - and the musicians were quite comfortable mingling with the audience afterwards. I didn't have any paper with me, so I asked Mike to sign the shirt I was wearing.

Good memories! So glad I still have this.

Great to run across something to bring back a special memory!

Still a fan?

Cool find. Must of been a great concert. Never seen U2, gotta go someday. Probably my favourite band.

Don't accidentally put that in the wash.

Seriously, Wes - that did cross my mind! I remember that when I got home I just hung it up instead of throwing it in the laundry basket.

Unwashed for 29 years.... oh, dear!

Frame it and hang it next to the guitars.

I haven't kept up with 'em.... sorry to say. I did like their music, though I was much more familiar with U2.

That was a looong time ago.

Lisa, Stop lying about your age, we all know you TOLD the guy at the door you were 19, because you had to be to get in the convert. The truth is in 1983 you were only six years old.

I'm big U2 fan. My sweetie and I took the kids to see them last year - their first concert (unless you count the Wiggles, and I don't)!

There was a woman and her son sitting behind us. Turns out she had missed a U2 concert 20 years sgo, because she went into labor. To birth the son that was with her for the show.

I have to say... Made me feel a bit old... And realize how long U2 has been around!

They still rock btw.

Yes they do still rock. But my favorite music was from their October, War and Boy albums. "Gloria"... "I Will Follow"... Hardly anyone from the US had even heard of them in the early '80s, much less from Oklahoma.

Yep, we're all getting old.... but still appreciate good music!

What a great story about the mom and son behind you!

I did fudge on my age a time or two back then, but not for this concert.... it was actually held in a big sports arena (Lloyd Noble arena in Norman), though 2/3 of it was partitioned off and seating was only in the remaining third.

I liked U2 much better in the early 80's before Bono became a political tool.

Well Lisa....he's fared better than some 70s / 80's rockers still on tour.

Ex: Peter Frampton, Dave Wakeling, Matthew Sweet, the guy from Flock of Seagulls.

Wow very cool!

I had also seen The Alarm in concert back in the 80's and met them after the show.
I still have my autographed tickets from 3 of the 4 members

The members names were:
Mike Peters
Dave Sharp
Eddie Macdonald
Nigel Twist

Here are my tickets although I can't make out one of the 3 signatures

Cool that you kept those!

I think the names look like Mike Peters (more stylized than my autograph - but the M and I look very similar), Dave Sharp, and Eddie Macdonald...

Lisa, if you wanna wash the t-shirt but keep the signature, what you can do is have it tattoo'ed onto you. The tattoo artist can trace it on to you.

Maybe on your arm or back would look good.
